My kitten (9 weeks) got her first shots today. She did really great at the vet; she was so brave. When we got home we played but then she fell asleep and still is sleeping six hours later. I got really worried after 4 hrs and looked stuff up on the vaccine. Apparently some cats get lethargic/dull. She is sooo not herself and I am kind of freaking out. I did manage to feed her some cat tuna pate about an hour ago (I was worried about dehrydration and so I brought it to her). I so want her to get over this fast, I am consumed by worry. My husband thinks I am a helicopter mom. :-( :-( :-(
She's probably just tuckered out from the trip to the vet and playing when you got home. I'd just keep an eye on her and make sure she's eating/drinking/using the litterbox the rest of the day. If she still seems out of it tomorrow, then maybe give the vet a call. Helicopter mom, haha. ETA: Sorry I failed on the distraction part of your request. The helicopter mom part reminded me of an article I read recently on problems with the parenting of American children - it's fairly long, so you can read it to distract yourself: www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/books/2012/07/02/120702crbo_books_kolbert?currentPage=1&mobify=0
Aw, I'm sure she's fine. My dogs sleep a lot normally and after shots they sometimes seem a little more out of it. Just make sure she's eating and drinking and going to the bathroom and things should be okay.

Good news! Right after I posted she woke up. She started to walk a little wobbly so I picked her up and brought her to the litter box. She used it and then started to walk more. She went to her water bowl and drank and then started to play for about 15 minutes. She now went back to sleep. I am so relieved that she drank water and started to play-- good signs! I am going to read that article though. Thanks juliash and popcorn!

Haha - I think she'll be ok. DD slept 7 hours (in my arms during the day - boo) after her first shots, and after her most recent ones, she came home and took a 3.5 hour nap. I think both the stress of the doctor/vet and then the shots themselves just do a number on little bodies, whatever the species. I honestly don't remember how our kittens reacted to shots since it's been so long since we had any.

My cat was always tired/lethargic after getting her shots. I know my cat had an allergic reaction to the Feline Distemper shot. She was running around liked a crazed cat and biting her pads until they were bled. It helped when my vet switched to the "pure vac" vaccinations. You may want to check if your vet offers those for next time. Also, it can help for her to get a Benadryl shot concurrently with her vaccinations. If she is still "off" 24 hours after the shots, I would take her back to the vet.
Update: when my H came home late last night kitten got up and played and used the litter box. This morning she is completely back to her old self. I am so happy! Tnx for the support!!!! .
