agree. We judge each other's opinions all the time. That's sort of the point of this board.
Quite frankly, this is the reason I don't deal with the sex work is ok threads. Because I TOTES judge folks who make it out to be some high life Hollywood Madame type gig for most sex workers. I stay far away because each time - my side eye is higher than The People's Eyebrow.
I get trying to make it safe, but it's really one of those things that will not ever be safe. It just won't and for that reason I can't be all Make Safe Work Safe and Legal. Hell, even the porn industry has issues.

I still call those things their old names. No new names for me. ::Stamps feet::
Welp. I'm just sayin'. When *I* was a Girl Scout, they were Caramel Delights. Everything old is new again.
I really like Samoas but if someone put a cookie in my hand and called it a Caramel Delight, something comprised of more chocolate, coconut, and shortbread than caramel would make me hateful.

You're eating the wrong Samoas.
See how they're covered in Caramel?
No, that's not covered. It doesn't even stretch out satisfyingly the way caramel is meant to. The chocolate and coconut cover the caramel. So let's not even play.
Ive made a homemade bark version of these. Melt chocolate on wax paper and place shortbread in chunks close together. Toast coconut and melt caramel separately. Fold toasted coconut into melted caramel and pour over shortbread. Drizzle more melted chocolate over the whole thing. Pop into freezer and then break into chunks while still frozen hard. After that, I just store in the fridge because I like it cold. I got it off of Pinterest.
I'm going to pretend I didn't see this. I'm going to have to ask you not to share it with my H, either, or we can no longer be friends.

Nevada has been ID'd as a trafficking hotspot. Its trafficking rates have risen. Its rape rate is also higher than the national average.
Women in Nevada brothels live behind barbed wire. They work continually.
And legality doesn't keep them safe. They have to get tested regularly; johns don't have to be tested at all. The prostitutes themselves are responsible for examining men for safety. :?

And to add to this, the men who cannot go to legal brothels or do not want to pay legal brothel prices or want to punch prostitutes in the face. Or don't want to be turned down by a prostitute, or want to sleep with children, or don't want to wear condoms, or want to have sex in a back alley, or want to have sex and not pay what they've agreed to, or want the novelty of sleeping with someone who doesn't understand them or hopes they'll take them away from all of that, or don't have the power to say no will always frequent illegal prostitutes.
The availability of extremely limited prostitution venues does not change those facts.

I think legalizing prostitution is one of those ideas that sounds like a good idea on the surface, especially among liberals who support legalization of marijuana. The problem I have with this, beyond the potential for abuse, is that the 'commodity' in question is a human body. There is no comparison to other industries because that fact makes it more complicated and more important than other industries, and it makes our failures in regulation immensely more important.
Say what now? No. One has nothing to do with the other.

I know... It's just one argument I have heard from a certain sector of people on the left- the moralistic objection being the primary reason for it being illegal. But they are clearly not similar.

I recently read something online (so it has to be true) that there are 2 GSC bakeries, and that is the reason for the different names. It's the same cookie, but ABC bakery boxes them as Caramel Delites and Little Brownie bakery boxes them as Samoas. The same is true for the inferior cookies that have different names.
I did not engage with Arbor because just reading her posts pushed me more the other way. I am not ok with coercion when it comes to sex or prostitution and if that makes me not sex positive, then Im ok with that. I dont consider myself to be a feminist or sex positive pusher anyway. This thread and the 'dick or gtfo' statement pretty much confirms I will never see eye to eye with bunny on this issue either. IIRC, that was another instance of her throwing out some pretty ignorant crap then crying persecution when it didnt fly over well.

I think people weren't giving @bunnybean the benifit of the doubt in that thread and just used it to say they couldn't gaf. I think if anyone else was arguing in favor of implied consent sexual activity (which 99% of us actually engage in when we have sex) it would have gone over better.
Fuck all this got shit.
dick or gtfo was a different thread. That was the prudie post where the dude didn't want to have the sex yet.

yeah, i know. the argument was twofold - that someone that old would have to have some kind of "issues" that he would remain a virgin and that his girlfriend should just grab his junk and go for it in their next makeout session. then people gasped and clutched pearls and acted like @bunnybean was advocating rape.
Bunnybean usually advocates for the position that excuses some very uncomfortable positions about sex. I mean if you go back and think about the discussions we've had about sex or sexually related topics and what would be the odd position to take, you'll remember her stance and it will be on the prickly weird side of odd.
Was she advocating rape? Eh, that's debatable. But what she was unarguably advocating was not cool either. And quite frankly, it never is. Implied consent, the prudie dude, sex work, probing the deep thoughts of a celibate . . . well, we aren't going to trip the SEO by launching into that discussion.
It's odd and it's indefensible and yeah, combine all of that together and I wait nervously whenever we broach a similar topic to see what oddity she'll pop up with this time. I'm not sure if each individual aspect is all that odd on it's own, but as a whole, I judge. If that makes me an asshole, so be it.
i think you're as comfortable with the asshole label as i am with mine. i think when you have people that are identified as sex positive opposite submissive wives, someone is going to be offended somewhere.
Maybe, but again, this is not a sex positive stance. I am not trying to discuss it outside of BB being here, but the stance, regardless of it being her or you or the article, it is NOT sex positive. It's just not. I am not a submissive wife (not sure why I need to say that, but feel I do to answer this) and just right of sex positive and no, it's not.
