Omg I am so upset for you! What an impossible situation for you to be in!
Have you called other compounding pharmacies to see if they could ship the meds to you? My husband deals with compounding pharmacies and they often ship his meds to us. Maybe there are more options out there for you that are less costly?

I agree with Beth, get your Dr's office to work on it. What med is it? Some seizure meds can be crushed, and others can't (which you already know) so maybe what he is on can be crushed and taken with some applesauce?
This situation sounds so ridiculous. I'm sorry.
Zonegran/zonisamide. Depending on the taste Colin might actually chew the pill if it can be chewed. We see the neuro May 1st so if something hasn't been figured out before then we will talk to them then. I just paid OOP this month because I was in too much of a tizzy to drive far and he needed his medicines. He is on keppra as well but Walgreens can do that one.
I just can't get over how they say the compounded version is unnecessary. So, did they expect him to take a pill before he was even 6 months old? There are so many things that bug me about this whole thing and I've never complained until now. In the beginning we drove the 50+ miles to get his medicines and then the pharmacy two miles away opened. I am disgusted to know that it is the company my H works for that created these terms as our regular pharmacy actually does have a contract with the prescription company that falls under our insurance. I am so bothered by this. The HR person actually told my H to use his lunch break to get the medicines, lol.

That's beyond frustrating, also, I will come help you drag your house 5 miles down the road to help you get that exemption. I have about 3 weeks before AF returns and I morph into the hulk, it would be doable.
Ugh, so frustrating. Is the prevacid for Colin? We went through the same thing with Linus and refused to pay OOP 100% for the compounded prevacid. You can actually use OTC prevacid and open the capsules and put the beads in applesauce. I can't remember dosage/etc., but I know at the time Linus got a whole pill. Other reflux moms would divide the "beads" from the pill into two doses if need be. The pharmacist agreed that this is the same med and dosage as compounded. It actually ended up working better for him, because the compound always seemed to break down or something as it reached the end of the bottle and wasn't as effective. If you're pharmacist can't help you with that then you can google and it's very common in the kiddo reflux world. If it's for Oliver then ignore all of this lol.

Ok. And I'll bill for overtime for the time I am gone not on my lunch break, but doing something asinine because the company is a jerkface.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry about all of this. How frustrating and outrageous. I hope you can find a resolution. I don't have advice, but I am so angry and upset on your behalf.
I have nothing to say other than I can commiserate. R was on compounded prevacid for 18 months, we only have one compounding pharmacy and it was not covered by the insurance, it was $50 every two weeks.
We are dealing with the previcid issue too now. They want to charge us $90 now for compound when it's a $5 prescription covered in pill form.
I just haven't even touched that issue yet because we currently have a half bottle left. Give me a week and I'll be crying lol
We just switched to prevacid dissolvable tabs, which can be ordered at any pharmacy (since it does not have to be compounded) and they are shelf stable so we went down to getting it once a month. Our insurance covers this (but not the compound) so we are only having to pay our copay, so we are saving $50 a month! (That goes to his new fancy formula, which the insurance does not cover...)
