I wasn't ready for the no naps yet.. but in the past week it's been happening almost every other day that she's not napping :/ At the same time it's kinda nice since I don't need to try work around her nap schedule anymore this way.
For those of you who have kiddos who've done this did you still put them down every day and try get them to rest or go to sleep anyway?
G turns into an absolute bear when she skips naps so she definitely still needs them, even though she may not always want them. But my brother gave up naps really early. Once she starts regularly skipping naps, my eventual plan is to have her do at least an hour of "quiet time" whether she sleeps or not. Partly to give me a break and partly to give herself time to recharge. Coloring, looking at books, listening to quiet music, playing with quiet toys, etc. while I hopefully can do my own thing. It sounds good in theory?
When M started dropping her naps I did try to keep laying her down in hopes she would sleep. Then I tried doing the quiet time so she didn't have to take a nap but she needed to stay in her bed and just be quiet reading books or with her stuffed animals. That didn't work. So once she was about 2 weeks of no napping at all I just stopped and kept her up. The frustration of trying to get her down or keep her in her room for quiet time wasn't worth it.
With that said there was definitely a transition for both of us. By the evening for the first week or two she would act out from being over tired but it eventually went away once her body was regulated to it. I feel like it was definitely easier transition for her than me as I enjoyed the little bit of time in the middle of the day and not having it anymore was hard.

Right now we still put bkb down for quiet time. I think when she gets to the point of consistent no napping like dana86 stated with M, we'll do no naps. While I will dread no naps, it'll be so nice not to work around that schedule any more.
I know what you mean karebear219 I think that's why I've been dreading it.. but at the same time it's nice. So far I've still put her down every day even though she doesn't necessarily nap. Then on days like today where we went out to run errands later on in the afternoon and falls asleep in the car it's still frustrating because I wish she'd just nap when she should have napped.
