Kids can make anything unsafe, but from an aesthetic point of view, I'd go wood.
We have a distressed wood one that we bought before DD and now I'm glad we did, she's constantly banging stuff on it or spilling on it. We had a glass kitchen table that was easier to clean but got scratched up pretty quickly.
We had wood. It's not actually in the living room right now because my kids love to trip over air and the first place they would land was face first into the coffee table. Awesome.
We actually put ours in the attic once she started walking until she was 2. It was rectangle with sharp corners and not worth the worry. Plus more room for toys :/
Fingerprints. You will hate life if you buy the glass.
this.
also - when I was a kid I convinced my little brother that it would be a good time to take the couch cushions on the floor, spin around and fall on them. My parents had a glass topped antique leather & wood coffee table. He fell on the corner of it and put his bottom teeth through his lip. I'm not sure it would have been SO bad if it was just wood he hit...
It's the best coffee table ever! I have a side table and c-shaped console too.
Will I need to use coasters on this? I do love the look, and I'm seeking a small-ish table, too.
I will put four fuchsia egg chair knockoffs around it.
We don't as a rule, although sometimes we will just because I like my coasters and glasses can be noisy on it. I see in the reviews people complaining about the finish, but we haven't had any problems with that. We've had it 2-3 years now (I can't recall). We got it in "graphite", which is really almost black.
This is me, I have an ottoman, its padded, the spawn bounces off it WWE style and I put my feet up on it when there is no company because I have no cuth.
