I had my baby almost 5 weeks ago and had second degree labial, perineum, and internal tears. I'm still sore. If you tore, were you still sore weeks later? I'm terrified to have sex any time in the near future

With my first, I had a third degree tear to the side. I was sore for 8 weeks and didn't have pp sex for a looonngg time.
With my second, I had internal tears ( as well as second degree perineal tear) and had to be recut & re stitched at 10 weeks. Suffice to say, I was quite sore for a long time after that.
I was probably sore for 2-3 weeks. I honestly don't remember exactly -- that time is such a blur. However, I will tell you that the first time we had sex PP, it hurt like heck, even though the soreness from childbirth/tearing had subsided.
I had a pretty minor first degree tear and was still sore for about four weeks. As far as sex goes, I was absolutely terrified at the thought of the pain it would bring. I think we waited until about four months out and just went with it verrrrrry slowly!
I tore in 3 different places and was definitely still crazy sore at 5 weeks. Like, I went to the doctor because I was convinced it wasn't right. But it was, apparently! I was cleared for sex/activity at 8 weeks pp but felt a lot better by 7 weeks pp or so. I had my IUD placed at 9 weeks pp and the difference between my exam at 5 weeks pp and the IUD placement at 9 weeks pp was remarkable. Hang in there! It sucks, I know.

Several months, but I had some weird oversensitive nerve reaction thing (that's the technical term) and had to get a prescription for lidocaine to desensitize the nerves at the scar tissue sites. It was super awesome. Everybody should legitimately feel sorry for my husband.
DS1 -- 3rd degree tear, sore for months and months. I had some pain during sex until after DS2 was born 2+ years later, really. DS2 -- 2nd degree tear, totally fine after a few weeks. Had sex as soon as we were cleared, and it was pretty enjoyable. DS3 -- ditto DS2.
I'm sorry for those that it's taken a while but it definitely makes me feel more normal! I'd never really heard of being sore for months...the things no one tells you. I've already told my H that regardless of what my doctor says at my six week appointment it's going to be a while for sex!
I was lucky in this regard. 1st degree tear and I think the noticeable soreness went away between weeks 3 and 4. It's funny how the sleep deprivation really makes all of this stuff a total blur.
I had a 4th degree tear and an episiotomy. By 6 weeks there was no way I was letting DH near me. I could've cried at the mere thought of that. By 8 weeks I think we finally had sex and it was a rough start. I would say it took the full 6 weeks to recover and feel comfortable, maybe longer. I remember using the peri bottle forever!!
I had a first degree internal tear and I'm still sore. Really, though, it isn't the tear that hurts. It's more the vulva area - it is achy pretty much all the time.
I was really sore for 2-3 weeks and mildly sore/uncomfortable until 7 weeks pp. I don't think we had sex for another couple weeks after that. I had 4 stitches and I think 2nd degree tear.

8 weeks is impressive. It took me 4 months to talk myself into having sex. It was awful and I think I lasted all if 2 minutes before crying uncle. I seriously thought my vagina was broken forever.
I had a 2nd degree tear and felt sort of normal by 6 or 7 weeks (read that as didn't struggle to sit down or trying to get up) I had a really weird groin muscle pain for MONTHS that made it super painful in my right groin leg area when I tried to spread my legs so sex was more physically painful to the outside of my body than anything else till around 9 months.
I had second degree tearing (not sure the specifics) and was sore for about 5 weeks. At my 6 week checkpoint, the doctor said there was a little area still healing but it didn't bother me. I had sex pp at 8 weeks and it was uncomfortable at first but overall not too bad. We wanted to try before my h's surgery since it will probably be another 8 weeks..lol.
