Good Morning, Ladies!
My oldest daughter, Molly, is scheduled for bilateral tibial derotational osteotomies and eight-plate insertion in her knees. We're looking at 4-6 weeks of fully non weight bearing and then gradually building up with PT.
We're 100% confident in our decision to have the surgery - she's almost 7 and noticing more and more that she can't keep up with her classmates and has problems with tripping/stumbling almost every day.
Have any of you gone through this surgery with your little ones? I'd love to hear about the process - from the surgery to the recovery and what to expect. We're also looking for some tips/advice on things to do while she's in her wheelchair. I'll be taking time off work (thanks, FMLA!) and really want to try and get out of the house as much as we can. I predict many trips to the zoo/children's museum - but even those will get boring after awhile.
