I have reusable bags in my truck. 75% of the time I forget to take them in to the store, but I'm getting better at it--it used to be 95% of the time. lol

The cloth bags are so much more convenient - they fit neatly in the car because they are structured, they hold more, I can use the straps on my shoulders. I bring them all the time.
i use the reusable bags almost always, probably 90% of the time. my h takes the plastic bags for lunch so sometimes i don't bring my reusable bags so he has some. however, i recently told him he needed to choose something reusable for lunch.
my reusable bags fit so much more than the plastic ones and are more convenient to use when i also need to carry a baby.
I try to keep a reusable bag or two with me in my work bag. I usually go to the store on my walk home from work so they get used a lot. But I don't think H ever uses them...which is okay, because those end up as our doggie cleanup bags. We have the little compostable ones too, but...our dog is really big. Eats a lot. The little bags aren't ideal.
I need the paper bags from Whole Foods to use in our recycling bin. Otherwise I bring my own bags. They're so much easier to carry into the house than plastic- I can put them over my shoulder! And I have some insulated ones, which is nice when I have to go a few places after the store. I'm sure I'm spreading e coli all over the damn place with my reusable bags.
As long as it's a planned trip to the store (not just grocery), I have my bags with me. I do keep one little foldy bag in my purse for unexpected stops, but it's not always enough.
This is me as well. I have one nylon Target bag that folds into a little pouch that I always carry with me, but it's not always enough if I need to do an impromptu trip, or if I go to a bunch of stores, I feel odd bringing in an already half full bag.* My other bags are Whole Foods reusable bags, which are wonderfully sturdy and structured, but a little bulky. I'd eventually like to replace them with something like Envirosax that fold up smaller and are washable.
*I don't feel this way when I'm walking in a city, but it feels odd to bring a bag with stuff in it from the car to each store. If I have two bags with me, I'll bring an empty bag in, then transfer the stuff to the other bag in the car as I leave each store.
So, those of you that live in places where plastic bags are banned, what do dog owners use for poop bags? please don't say those tiny special purpose poop bags. I have mastiff breeds. I need to use standard sized plastic grocery bags - doubled.
As for leaving the re-usable ones in the car, the sun and heat down here are so bad they actually disintegrate.
I have them, but rarely use them. We do reuse the plastic bags, though...we make all of our own bread and it stores really well in those, so having a supply on hand means I don't have to buy bread bags (so that's a wash, right?).
We use them except for meat--I put those in plastic, which we later reuse as trash bags.
I sometimes forget if I'm going out by myself, but most of the time I take Caleb with me, and he thinks every time we leave the house, we have to take bags with us. No worries about forgetting then.
This is the only downside to grocery pick up, the order comes in a million plastic bags. Like, one, maybe two, items from an order for a week's worth of groceries per bag. We reuse them as trash can liners, and I take the excess back to the store's bag recycling bin every couple of weeks.
I do use resuable bags at Target, for quick grocery trips, etc.

About 50%, but I always have them put meat and eggs iin one of their bags. We use the grocery bags as trash bags at home, so when we start running low we'll do a trip without the reusable ones.
Since we started using grocery bags for trash we use less than a quarter of the regular trash bags we used to use, and the kitchen sized ones really were a waste because we take the kitchen trash out once a day.
Most of the time, but sometimes I forget to bring them. Plastic bags I get are reused to clean out the litter boxes and for trash bags, so I like to get them occasionally
There's a bag ban in my city and I don't want to pay for a bag. I have them in the car to bring in and I carry one in my purse for unexpected purchases.
I rarely use the reusable ones. I take the plastic ones for litter box duty and the paper ones for our (highly outdated) recycling, since we still have to split everything up instead of being able to toss all recyclables into one bin like EVERYONE ELSE AROUND OUR CITY.
