DS was diagnosed with RSV today, and an ear infection. It's been a rough 5 days in our house.
Anyone else experience RSV with their babies? We are using the nose frida and humidifier. We are struggling help him sleep... He will really only sleep on us or about 1 inch from us. Which makes keeping him upright to sleep tough... He won't stay asleep in his rock N play or crib.
Any tips to help us survive? We are exhausted and fried.
i have no experience, but i don't want to leave you hanging..
a lot of girls on my BMB seemed to have this with their babies. the babies were all on breathing tubes..and/or nebulizer. seems scary. i'm sorry you are dealing with this.
i know you said he's only sleeping next to you, but have you tried propping the crib mattress up? some people put a few blankets underneath one side of the mattress so that there's an incline as he sleeps.
E had bronchiolits for several weeks. I think that is similar to RSV and/or can be caused by RSV.
I don't have any great tips. We used the humidifier, which really helped. Lots of saline and snot sucking. Kept him more upright to eat. And, he slept in the RNP next to our bed just fine. Maybe try a warm bath or putting him in a steamy bathroom right before bed? Would it help if you kept your hand on him while he's in the RNP next to your bed? You've tried letting him fall asleep on you and then moving him to RNP and he still wakes up? If he only sleeps on/with you, I guess I'd just suck it up. How long has he had it so far? Sending lots of T&P that he kicks it soon!
I don't have RSV experience, but do have a child who only wants to be held when she's sick. I'm sorry things are so tough right now. My best advice would be to tackle nights in shifts. Someone gets until 2am and the other gets after 2am. If you can get him to sleep on your shoulder, maybe you can prop yourself up in bed with pillows and get some sleep that way? And worst case, you both get some chunks of the night of uninterrupted sleep to get by until this is all over. I'm sorry!

My daughter has had RSV twice. Once when she was 1.5 months old, the second time she was 13.5 months. The best thing you can do is increase the humidity in the room, use saline in their nose and then use the nosefrida. (In my daughters case she was hospitalized both times, because it turned into other things; 1st time was bronchiolitis, this most recent time was Pneumonia and double ear infections)
He is doing better cdmay, thanks for asking. He still has a nasty cough, but has not had a fever since last Thursday or so. He got to go back to daycare yesterday for the first time in a week and a half. And last night he was so exhausted that he fell asleep at 9 (early for him, usually 10pm) and when he woke at 12:30 he fell back asleep with the pacifier and only woke briefly at 4 and put himself back to slewp. Last night was the first night in probably 6-8 weeks he hasn't ended up in our bed at some point. Yippee!

Wow, that's a rough week and a half! I'm glad he's starting to feel better and you can get a little sleep.
