Sometimes I wish I had given H input about my ring, but he surprised me with the proposal and picked it out himself. I still love it, but probably would have picked a slightly different one. Yours will be gorgeous!
Are you going to get to try on the wax model? We made my ring with a local design firm and after they had shaped the mold in wax I got to try it on to verify.
It fits like it was made for me!
It was such a fun process although weird because I was involved in the whole thing. The only thing they kept secret from me was the delivery date but then DH came home and was all like "I picked up the ring today - when would be a good time to propose?" What a romantic.
I'm not. I tried on a wax mold for a very similar ring at a local jeweler. They were going to overcharge M and we just didn't feel comfortable buying from them. But I did get an idea of how the ring will sit on my hand, and I loved it. I feel a lot more comfortable working with the jeweler we are now. He just emailed me and asked if I wanted claw prongs to keep with the vintage feel (we're using an old european cut stone). I didn't even know I wanted that til he said something! He gets what I am going for here.
After this I am out of the process. The ring goes to M and I won't see it until he actually proposes! (wilted)

I forgot to mention that your ring is beautiful - you've done an excellent job! I'm glad you've found a jeweler that you're happy working with - I turned down three custom jewelers when they told me that purple sapphires don't exist and that it would look better with all diamonds - nope!
