I took the last two weeks off except for a 5k in the middle. Things were super busy at work and at home and my allergies hit an all time record. It's been nice, I'm changing plans when I get back to it so it's like a nice little break.
I took 18 months off after my injury but that's different
Yes, especially when I've done challenging sequences like Turbo Fire, or now doing BBM 2.0. I work out hard/consistently for 3-4months, and take that rest week before starting a new program. I will do light walks, easy yoga, but the point is to let the muscles recover a bit and then challenge them with a new routine. My left knee and shoulder tend to get sore (old injuries), and so far have been lucky with nothing serious taking this approach. There's some research out there showing this is a very good way to train. Plus mentally, I'm ready to get back in the game after a week off.
I'm in the midst of several days off right now... Unintended because of work demands but it became a choice of workout vs. Sleep. Sleep won, because without it my workouts would suck. The positive is that it allowed me to miss exercise and be excited to get back at it this weekend. Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

I was feeling the same way you describe, so I tried to take a week off last summer. I think I only made it 5 days, but it made a huge difference, and my body really benefited from the rest. (I did feel like I was going crazy, and I was anxious I was going to gain a ton of weight. I actually dropped a few pounds.) I'd definitely recommend it.

I'm spending two weeks this summer in a foreign country, sharing a condo with 7 other people. Other than a lot of walking during some sightseeing, I don't see much exercise happening. I don't work out nearly as hard as most of the ladies here, but I do 30-60 minutes of *something* pretty much every day and the thought of not exercising all that time is already stressing me out big time. I don't have much choice, though, so it'll be a forced break. I will bring my exercise bands, though, b/c I can't afford to let my shoulder go to hell or I won't be able to work when I get back.

Our vacation in March was essentially a break in the middle of 1/2 training. I ran once in 6 days and otherwise swam and walked. I don't think I gained any weight, but I don't weigh myself as much these days.
Christmas is usually another time I take more than a day or two off. With traveling and the weather, I end up taking 4-5 days off.

Yes and I always love it as long as it is a planned break. Full stop. I have done the whole I mean to exercise and I don't and that's demoralizing if I keep it up.
