My 6 mth old that puts everything in her mouth has a runny nose and cough. She gave the runny nose to me. She is happy and we were going to go to a child centre today for playtime and circle, but I dont want to get angry stares from the other Moms. Most of these places have bins to put toys in after they have been in a kids mouth. Would you give me the side eye for taking my sick-ish kid to infectyours? A very runny nose and a very sporadic cough.
How long ago did your runny nose start? You can't infect anyone after 3-5 days, right? Either way, I tend to stay away from those types of activities so I'm not *that* mom.
I wouldn't keep your child home for a runny nose. They get so many of those, it's not worth using all of your sick time. On top of that, I always figure that if he gets a runny nose, it's probably from daycare.
Now if she's running a fever or has green mucus, or is just generally miserable, then keep her home.
I'm a SAHM too and I will admit that I give the eye to the kids that I see at storytime or music class with the overactive runny nose. Only because we pretty much always end up with it ourselves after such classes.
It stinks, but I would change your plans to do the walk/park like you said.

She started yesterday. I thought it was a teething symptom. I started today.
Oh yeah, do other stuff if it just started. If it's been a week I would have said go. lol. Just like pp's kids, DS also gets sick from other kids during play groups and story time.
Btw, if she didn't get you sick and it was just a runny nose from teething I would have said go today. I know, I am a hypocrite. Ha.
If my child stayed home when his nose was runny, I would have long ago had to quit my job. His nose ran almost constantly from 2 months until about 15 mo of age, I kid you not.
I would probably still go. DD is in daycare anyway and I send her with a runny nose all the time (it's usually because of teething anyway) but we do a music class Saturday mornings and she has definitely gone with a runny nose. She also puts everything in her mouth, but I just keep anything she's been chewing on aside and let the teacher know those need to be wiped down.
