This morning, for the first time in months, my Achilles hurt. Like, in the way it first started hurting a year ago. The only thing I've changed recently is my shoes, back to the shoes (glycerins) I was wearing when I was having issues. I did not put Superfeet back in these shoes like I'd been wearing. The last few months I've been wearing different shoes and had no new issues.
Could it be the damn shoes? I definitely feel less arch support and my heel is not in there as firmly.
Can I train for a full in Sayonaras? They feel so light, I just worry.
Yes and yes. Yes it can be the shoes, and yes you can train in the Sayonaras. I've trained for a full in less, and I had less issues. Train in the shoe that feels good!
My Achilles issues started with the Brooks Adrenaline. That shoe did not agree with me. I'd try the ones that felt better and see how training goes. My Achilles does still bother me sporadically. I ice it and rest it a day or two, and knock on wood, it has been fine. Unfortunately I think it is one of those injuries that can be pretty chronic. Good luck! Hopefully it is just a one day irritation that there is no need to stress over. ETA: I am also a Mizuno gal.

Feel free to tell me I'm an idiot.
I vote yes.
I had been doing great in Nimbus 14s, got a new pair of Nimbus 15s, and as soon as mileage started ramping up training for my fall half, I developed an achilles problem. I limped my way through training, superstitiously put the 14s back on, and it gradually and magically went away. I didn't change anything else.
I'm running longer and faster now, and still no reoccurrence of the achilles problem. I stocked up on old 14s, retired the 15s, and am good to go.
I'm afraid for the future, since the 16s are out now and I can't hoard 14s as a permanent solution. The shoe issue wasn't readily apparent to me when I'd first start running in the 15s so it's hard to say at a LRS which shoes would work and which wouldn't. I guess I'll have to trial & error my way through.
So, in sum, I have no solution for you but I think you are not crazy to think it's the shoes.
Yes and yes. I've never worn the Sayonara but I've done my last couple of marathon training cycles almost exclusively in my PureFlows, which I think are in a similar category. I have to replace them more often than traditional shoes (after 350 miles or so they start to die on me) but it can be done.
Wear what works! You can always go back to something else if you start to get issues from the Sayonaras.
