Trying!!!! Ps did you get my email today? We meet in a week! I'm so freaking excited!
Yes!!! I'm so excited, but I'm so overwhelmed with how to pack for it that I'm paralyzed.
I've also decided that I'd like to take a Blair Witch Project "I'm so scared" pic during my night leg, but I can't decide if would be awesome or just nerdy.
Update: not only did J bring me ice cream, he brought me a whole f'ing pint of it. That I hosed in 15 minutes flat. Apparently I need to specify NO PINTS...the man knows I don't have a shutoff valve for the stuff, which is why I don't keep it in the house.
Hey, let's play a fun game! It's called guess who has a raging sore throat?
Want a good recipe for honey & lemon?
Well either way here you go.
Buy some lemons, lemon juice, and honey. Cut up the lemons into wedges and peel the skin off of them. Put about 2 tablespoons of honey in a small pot/pan and heat on the stove on low. Then when the honey is warm, put the cut up pieces of the lemon in the pot (About half a lemon), then add some lemon juice, stir it all up so the lemon chunks are covered in honey. Then put boiling water in there, about 2 mugs full, stir it around and there you go. It makes about 16 oz of lemon and honey beverage. My dad taught me this way when I was in high school and its so amazing and helps dull the pain so much.
brit -- I'm super late to this, but good for you. Usually I'm totally not at peace w/ not running, even if I need time off. I gather this is how you mostly are too. So, if you're feeling good with a break, embrace it.
kams -just read the full detail about your bike saga. I would be emotional about this all too. You're allowed to shed some tears if you need.
I don't know a lot about bikes, but I deal with a lot of machinery, tires, parts, etc everyday on the farm. I'm not an expert at all, but when a shop or mechanic says something should work or fit & it doesn't it's SO frustrating. Especially when it causes really expensive, nerve-wracking problems for cows or field work.
I know that's still NOT the same thing as an IM, but I can relate to the frustration. Especially when they won't accept any blame when they clearly used the wrong parts.

You are amazing. Thank you so much
Your welcome. Now get better and rock Ragnar next weekend!
NH&F - I wore shorts and a t shirt to school today. And they are NOT "professional length" and I don't care! It's supposed to be 90 today. Bleh.
I have to talk to even more cheaters today. I hate it. Kids need to stop with the cheating.
H&F - I shouldn't watch videos that kams posts about Ironmans, nor should I run behind men with the tattoos on their calves, because then I start thinking....hmmm...maaaaaybeeeee....

Hugs honey. I do see a mega PR in your future.
Yes! Incredibly frustrating! And I blame myself for not knowing more, but why would I ever assume I know more than people who work on bikes for a living? Just a big bummer.

While we're here and talking about your last half of the year travels, there's still a spot left open in the Kiawah McMansion. One spot, one Kams...I don't think it's a coincidence.

In my inebriated state last night, I may or may not have told several people that I want to do an Ironman. Relatedly, I have a pre-graduation pool date tomorrow morning with a classmate who swam in college, so I'm hoping he will smoke my ass.
Update: I succeeded, and am not currently dealing with a raging hangover, so I'll call it a win all around!
I have stupid drinking question. Is it possible for your alcohol tolerance to increase because of increased activity. I was in Phoenix a couple months ago and the amount of drinking I did would leveled me in college. In Phoenix my friend was taking Advil to feel better, and I was all I'm going to go run now.

Is this a thing? Or am I an idiot?
You know, I was just wondering that last night. Because I don't actually drink to excess all that often, although there have been more occasions lately. But like, a few months ago I was rarely drinking and then one night I put away a whole bottle of wine, had some gatorade and ibuprofen before bed, and was totally fine the next morning. That would have absolutely destroyed me in college. Last night too - I had a LOT to drink. So, anecdotes FTW, but I think you may be on to something.
ALSO. I cannot see anything in this thread past kams quoting taratru, on the app or my computer, unless I go through the user who posted and it's really annoying me.

yay for unexpected benefits!
I could only see this post by looking at your recent posts. Wtf proboards?

I'm having similar issues. And posts are doubling up in random places.....

It was doing this all day yesterday! Nothing works!

It's back! Just in time for me to see your fantastically appropriate gif!
Ok clseale, I just wrote a huge response and am crying. WhereTF did it go?! Ahhhh! Cursed with everything bike related this month, holy balls.
All of that is unacceptable with a capital U.
Have you posted a review on Yelp? If you tell me the store, I will post it on your behalf, if you are not a yelper. Because that noise needs to be publicly documented.

I'm sort of relieved to see this from you, because sometimes I haven't been 100% sure what's their fault/my inexperience, and maybe my friends are all just agreeable.
I'm livid, but I also know that I will see the owner of this shop for years to come around the local events. They made me feel like such an idiot, so I just haven't been entirely sure how much of a leg I have to stand on. And I don't want it to completely take away from all of the great things that happened that day.
So, no, I haven't done a yelp review. My H had me write a list of everything in case they ask me why I'm talking shit (I'm not trying to, but geeze!). Because, when I told the owner everything that happened, he replied with, "yep, ironman is tough."

In the proboards craziness I totally missed this! LOL! I wish I could know for sure I may run out of time! I have crossed everything crossable that it will work out!

if i post it on your behalf, you would be anonymous. it's important because there will be another "kams" or 10 other "kams" and that is not cool.
i've had my bike messed up by bike shops (like pieces that should not have been messed with to begin with replaced with crap pieces) and that is why in the bike thread, i push seeing a fitter before a bike shop. i just cant trust them, based on my experiences. Over the years, I have found a few that I do trust, but it is trial and error and yelp reviews.

This is totally true.
I know that word is spreading really quickly locally.
If you would be willing to post a review, it's probably good, and hopefully it means that other people don't get screwed. I just think that, because it's a small community, any identifying details are going to be glaringly obvious that it's me. If it's not a big deal to post it, then either post details as a friend who is posting because I didn't want to make anyone look bad, or post as the customer without the race details. And also maybe throw in there that, when I approached them, they were dismissive and took zero ownership.
I sort of feel like I'm asking you to give me a gift but I'm telling you what it should be!
Yay, I love writing Yelp reviews. I have been on Yelp for only 3 weeks and already addicted.
I just wrote a review that made myself literally LOL.
I WILL WRITE YELP REVIEWS FOR ANYONE. MUST. WRITE. REVIEWS.
You should post your reviews here for our enjoyment.
or everyone should go to my link and vote for my reviews!
i'm a late bloomer but i figure if i write at least 3 reviews a week, i can maybe get elite for 2015. i am not very patient, i want to be elite immediately. lol
