i cannot imagine having the balls to ask my family and friends to donate money to my single income household to pay for the medical expenses i am going to incur by adding a new member to my family.
How do you not know your insurance policy? We have a few we can choose from and I scoured each and compared benefits to see which had the better coverage. I made sure to look at coverage for pregnancy as well.
Well, this woman DID shamelessly ask for her email to be circulated far and wide (Facebook!) so I think it would be perfectly fair for you to post it in its entirety right here. We can choose to "contribute" to her...with our WORDS.
I'm so disgusted with this. First of all, $2,700 is a chunk of change, but its not a TON of money. Put it on a cc.
Secondly, I'm so glad that DH and I have been working out our budget in the event that we consider TTC, so we know that we can freaking afford a kid.
I might be suffering from silver spoonitus, but that seems like a very small sum money to come up with. Cash out some vacation, put in some extra OT, or pull from savings? Makes me think they are grifters.

Stuff like this makes me want to get one of those mobile spay/neuter clinics that operates out of the back of a van or RV...but for humans. We could give away free swag to help change their minds like the pet ones or the mobile blood banks do. Sterilize yourself now for a free tote bag or water bottle!
I wonder how old her other two children are, how much she could make if she returned to work, and how much it would cost her to put the kids into day care.
We live on 1 income and $2700 would be a lot for us too. Which is just one of the dozen reasons we are only having 1 child!!! Of course, in an emergency we could take that money out of savings. BECAUSE WE PLANNED FOR THIS. douche.
Dochas- because you are being smart having one kid! And I'm sure if you wanted another you would go back to work.
IMO- even if you live really frugally for a few months to build savings I think that is so so important. Maybe instead of sending them $$ someone should send them a money management book.
Can you even imagine living like this - just having kids you can't afford?!? Sometimes I think we should just say "F it" and do whatever we want. This responsible living comes with a lot of stress. LOL

Yeah- and I'm currently kind of po'. I almost wish our "emergency bills" were $2,700.
