Obviously, we can't solve this problem so we should just learn to live with the reality that if you drop your kids off at school, a movie theater, or church, you might never see them again. Because that's a totally reasonable way for a country to operate.

I was reading an article about the Vegas shootings and about how in the overwhelming number of mass shootings, there is only one shooter (which is why the Vegas shooting was rare, since there were two). What tends to happen is that as police are getting eyewitness statements, they'll almost always come out and say there are multiple shooters and then confirm later on that there was only one. I won't be surprised if that's what happens here.

At least you are free to do so, though!
And you know what? I don't care if my snark is not helpful. Because neither are the letters and calls and donations I've made. And neither is the status quo. And neither is the gun lobby. So I will just join the stew of unhelpfulness.

But as long as the good guys have unlimited access to guns, everything is good.
Fuck you NRA, fuck you.
I don't know how they continue that bullshit with a straight face when the evidence so clearly contradicts it. How many shootings have happened at places CRAWLING with "good guys with guns"? JFC, the assholes in LV shot two cops and a bystander with a concealed carry!
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I lose all cognitive ability to discuss this issue with people who don't think we need to change our gun laws. Anymore I just go straight to angry which I know isn't helpful - but clear, concise, logical points don't seem to work anyway...
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

The bystander was only shot because he was trying to be a hero with his concealed carry and wasn't paying attention. They had told all of the customers to leave aka they weren't planning to kill the customer, but he got his ass shot because he is not the cops and shouldn't have been playing hero. I'm grossed out that the media is calling him a hero. No, he's a moron who got his ass shot because he had no business using a gun to protect the masses ... he is not the police
Standing near the registers was Joseph Robert Wilcox, 31, of Las Vegas, who happened to have a concealed weapon and decided to intervene "immediately and heroically," McMahill said.
But Wilcox didn't realize Amanda Miller, now inside the store, was with the armed man and he walked right by her on his way to end the attack. As he passed her, she pulled out a gun and shot him in the ribs, killing him.

So, this kind of reinforces my point that the "good guys with guns" line is bullshit, does it not?

Of the shooters that are known, do we have a perecentage of legally vs illegally obtained weapons?
I'm not even sure this is a relevant inquiry anymore.
Me neither, but I am in a FB "discussion" with someone who feels that the guns used are illegally obtained and restrictions only make things difficult for law abiding citizens.

unless they were stolen from the factory or gun store, all "illegally" obtained guns were once "legally" obtained.
Does this person support laws to require reporting stolen guns?
these are the ONLY states that require lost/stolen guns be reported... of them, only New Jersey confers civil liability on owners whose guns are stolen, not reported and later used criminally (In New Jersey, if a registered assault weapon is used in the commission of a crime, the registered owner of that weapon is civilly liable for any damages resulting from that crime. This liability does not apply if the assault weapon was stolen and the registered owner reported the theft to law enforcement within 24 hours of his or her knowledge of the theft.).
