DH's job suddenly heated up here and we've had a crap summer so far. He did a lot of work while we were on vacation 2 weeks ago and fielded a lot of requests asking him to cut the vacation short. Mercifully, he didn't, but it sucked that he had to travel to London the day after we returned from vacation, and the day before I left for my own work thing in Lisbon. Luckily, one of DD's preschool teachers was available for overnight babysitting, but man, it was stressful to coordinate.
Then I spirited DD off to Copenhagen on my own this week and returned to find DH had to go to London- again. DD hasn't seen him at all since Sunday. I saw him when he came home late and then left early the next morning for London.
His parents want to skype with DD this weekend. That's great, but I said it can only be at a time when DH is available. I'm tired. If he has to work all weekend, no skyping with the grandparents. If I have to come up with how to entertain DD, I do NOT want to be jetting home for a skype call at a particular time. If, on the other hand, DH is around and we're doing stuff as a family, then great, he can bring DD home for a call and I can take that time to go to Sephora or have a coffee or do any downtime kind of stuff. Otherwise, sorry ILs, better luck arranging a call next week.

You gotta do what you gotta do. I wouldn't worry about it. And I totally sympathize about your DH having to work so much. Before he went on paternity leave, my DH was working 18 hours days for about 2 months straight. I was going nuts.
BFP1: DD born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w3d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence
How is that bitchy? They can live without skyping for a week or two.
Frankly, if my kids and I have limited time with dad, we are taking that time to be with dad. Grandparents and anyone else can wait. And besides, who died and made you social coordinator?
