Ugh. Maybe flameful- one of my cats was looking a little round around the middle when I brought her in for her spay (she was a 6 month old stray we just took in). The vet felt around to see if she was knocked up (she wasn't) but I would have gone thru with the spay anyway.
Well, clearly you would have had to discuss it with the cat first. It's her body, her decision.
Let's just be glad she wasn't a Hobby Lobby employee.

My mom lives on a farm and a cat moved into her barn. The cat keeps having a million kittens and I asked her why she doesn't trap it and get it spayed. She said it is always pregnant or nursing so she can't. I don't know if she is against cat abortions because she is Catholic or cheap.

A cat shmashmortion?! You monster!
I'm not sure vets will do this. When I was a kid it seems like EVERY knocked up cat found its way to our house. I asked my Dad one day why didn't you get a kitty abortion and he said the vet wouldn't do it. WTF??
I also had an acquaintance chide me for having my cat spayed because she should "experience the miricale of birth". Whatever, she came from the pound, they don't let them out with out being spayed or neutered.

Many vets will do it, especially for cats - maybe it was uncommon in the past though.

Wasn't it once believed that it was good for a cat to have one litter and then be spayed? For some reason I remember hearing that as a kid. Or maybe I just misunderstood.
I remember when my cat, Missy, had her litter. I think I was 8 or 9. She made sure to give birth in my parents closet on my mother's shoes. It was the coolest thing to watch. I think she ate one baby, but 5 survived: Boots, Whiskers #2, Cuddles, Goofy, and Rascal #2.
She was a horrible cat mother and wanted nothing to do with her cat children. My mother raised all of them before giving them away. We kept Cuddles and Goofy.
Missy outlived all her cat children to the ripe old age of somewhere over 20 years. No one can agree on how old she is.
