I'm not a creeper; I started posting on TK in 2003 and TN in 2005/2006. I've tried to stay out of drama lately, and couldn't figure out why I was being called out until I checked my notifications and realized where I'd freaked people out. I'm sorry about that - didn't mean to.
I mean, those were two BIG HUGE catfish things that happened before people (and by people I mean ME) really understood what catfishing was. I know I was shocked by it, so when gmail mentioned she'd been in a fb group with someone who catfished the group, those were the two that came to mind.
I promise I wasn't trying to hurt feelings or be creepy or anything. I was just trying to get a frame of reference.

So wait...you named people who were somehow involved in an old catfishing drama who also happen to be gmail's friends. That's what caused the freak out?
Yep. And I thought I was using their screennames, but apparently it was their real names?
I'm not sure I ever saw what the big drama was...i thought maybe I was misunderstanding but it doesn't appear that I was. I am in a FB group with people from years ago on TK. Some of them post here occasionally and it certainly wouldn't surprise me to find out that a poster I didn't recognize was also part of the group and familiar with names and stories. I wouldn't want real names used here, of course, but it seemed from the start that Teacup was part of the FB group, no?

I was not (and am not) part of the facebook group.

Well then Nevermind! I take back my judgment of "not creepy" for now. How did you hear about the catfish drama? Was it discussed on the boards?

I guess so? I don't know where else I would've heard of it.
Finally finished reading this thread - I'd forgotten about the yankeebaby drama. Yikes.
eta: I'm sure there are plenty of other fb groups/spinoff groups/private boards that I have never heard of, didn't know about, etc. I'm sure there's at least one for gbcn, because that's the nature of these message boards. You find a group of women you connect with, this isn't a safe place, you hook up in a place that IS safe. I just happened to mention one (or two) that gmail was a part of. I think her initial freak out is understandable; a simple, "do I know you?" probably would've sufficed. (The answer is no)
