So I've been through alot the past couple months and starting to get better.. And thinking of changing my hair.. It's really dark and I want to go blonde.. Anybody done this? Hated it? Liked it? How do you swim with blonde hair? Does it turn green.. I'm going to go to a stylist to talk to them but you know sometimes they just see money.

When I was a kid my blond hair would turn greenish from swimming all summer in our pool. But as an adult I'm only exposed to chlorine infrequently (hair is now highlighted/bleached) and haven't had any problems with the green. Probably not an issue unless you swim every day or something. I don't know if this would be different going from a really dark color though, since I'm still blonde naturally, just a darker shade.

The only think I can think of is that if your hair is really dark and you are going blonde, you are going to have a helluva lot of upkeep on your hands.

This. I don't even know what my natural hair color is but being really blonde is really high maintenance.

I refuse to go blond because just highlights really trashed the condition of my hair, which is naturally a very dark brown. Between that, the cost and the time there's no way.
Hahahaha you'd have to spend a LOT of time in chlorinated water and then never wash your hair for it to turn green.
i have a little bit of blonde in my hair.. underneath some layers and i went in the pool once and it turned green! I'm worried about my whole head doing that..

I was a toe head and then turned into a darker blonde and then when moved to New England area growing up, it went to a dirty dark blonde/brown. I kept keeping my hair light and everything - even paying $$ for it. But because of recent events, etc. I went with the dye in the box and went back to brown and right now it seems to be fine. Less upkeep.

This! I have very dark hair naturally. Color wise I'm a 2 which is one shade from black. I went to a 10 platinum blonde and I LOVED it. But every 3 weeks I had to get retouched and started seeing regrowth every 1.5-2 weeks. Pain in the butt. Plus I had my hair chopped really pixie short then too so it was a little easier and less damage to my hair, but it was the most expensive 6 months of my hair's life. Every 6 weeks for a trim and regrowth touch ups were $110 for SHORT hair because I was a triple process. It was cute as hell, but good luck. and If you do it, use blue shampoo and conditioner because it gets brassy fast.

We need to see a pic... I can't imagine being anything other than a blonde but it doesn't work for everyone. Especially if you are just looking for a change, probably not the best idea.
