It looks like there is a new Doctor Who trailer. Still not very long. I hate how short they've made these trailers. But it looks interesting and perhaps a little more darker than the S7.

New Doctor seems so serious! I hope he's still a little silly too. The reason I got into Doctor Who is because of the goofy cuteness of the Doctors; super intense dark Doctor is not what I signed up for!

Well, let's be reasonable here--just because the stories could be dark, it doesn't mean the Doctor himself will be dark. If it stays true to what he says in the trailer (doing something about mistakes in the past), it may be dark/intense but that also implies coming back into the light.
Gah, I just watched the Wedding of River Song, so I should be caught up for the premier of Capaldi! But I've been afraid to watch the trailers or anything for Capaldi for fear of spoilers, which I'm already subjected to enough of.

You've still got a season to go! Plus the 50th. I just rewatched 'Asylum of the Daleks' last week though and it's still one of my favorites. The ending still gives me chills. Love it.
I'm hoping the ending of the 50th is what they mean by "righting old wrongs." Hopefully he's going after you-know-what (not to be confused with You-Know-Who) and it takes him to a place a bit darker because he's seeking redemption and revenge.
I need to rewatch the Christmas episode though. I only really remember bits and details and bad wigs. I liked the 50th a lot more when I rewatched it recently, so I'm hoping the same is true for the Christmas one as well. Maybe I'm forgetting something from the final moments that sets up for a darker Doctor?
I'm excited for Capaldi! I didn't really like him in Pompeii, but I didn't like much of anything about Pompeii. Still, I think he's going to be fantastic and I'm pumped for it to start.

Donna - there's always Donna
I know! But I'll definitely get through it in a month. I've been DYING to watch the 50th!!
I'm interested to see an older Doctor again but with the modern better storylines. Considering First Doctor looked more like the grandfather he was (complete with cantankerousness!)

This is what I'm thinking. From what I remember of the Christmas episode (and I was kind of upset at it at that point), he seemed super energetic and a little mad. I'm imagining him kind of similar to Eccleston, though I could be wrong. But it would make sense if it does come from the 50th, since both Eccleston and Capaldi draw from that.
I like the idea of a darker Doctor. While I liked 11, he was so Tigger-like that sometimes I wanted to slap him. I liked him best when he was a bit darker, a bit angrier. Just like I liked 9 and 10's darker, angrier, sadder episodes.
Maybe because I figure if I was 900+ years old and has lost friends and companions time and time again, I would be a bit dark and angry and sad myself.
Plus, on a total trivial side, I am loving the red lined jacket. Love it.
