I just finished The Husband's Secret. It was okay, worth reading once I guess but it will be quickly forgotten. The epilogue was the most interesting part of the book.
Now I'm reading Fly Away Home. It's not bad, typical Jennifer Weiner. A very light read. Perfect before going to bed.
While it's a shame that Tartt had to be the whipping boy of this over-arching cultural trend, it does need to be said. There is a shift toward the, errr, less intellectually-captivating when it comes to literature and it is important to acknowledge. Maybe not quite so snobbishly, but, to turn an equally cliche phrase, it is what it is. Be gone , Goldfinch. How you won the Pulitzer, only insiders may ever know.
And LO-freaking-L that Galassi at FS&G hasn't even read it yet but is being quoted for VF. Never change.

3 years since the last movie, 7 years since the last book, I'm still trying to fill the Potter void. This is the latest attempt. It's interesting, but definitely written more for religious parents trying to decide if HP will send their preshus to hell. The only downfall is that it was written just after the 4th book was released and hasn't been updated. I'd like to hear the author's thoughts on the last three books, especially DH with all its sacrifice, death and "resurrection."

The Light Between Oceans.
Can't decide how I feel about it. Sometimes the dialogue is weird (like, I feel like I'm reading a script from Degrassi High), but sometimes it feels totally natural. It's like the author had a split personality when she was writing.
I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Everyone keeps telling me how fantastic it is, and it's been an easy book to get sucked into, but right now I'm just like is there more to it than Jamie and Claire having sex?? Lol.
