I'm really excited about this movie! It was one of my favorite books as a kid, and I'm glad they finally made a movie version. Anyone else looking forward to it? It's opening Aug. 15.

Probably my favorite YA book of all time! I'm cautiously excited for the movie but wary of the changes they appear to have made, such as aging Jonas to a teenager and making the whole thing more action-focused. I get why they wanted to Hollywood it up a little, but I'm not sure whether I'll like their jazzed up version.

But, Jeff Daniels as The Giver? So perfect! I'll watch it regardless.

I was excited until I saw the newest trailer. They've completely changed the story into what looks to be a wanna be Divergent knock off. I'm not even interested at this point. Very disappointing, I absolutely love this book.

I absolutely love the book, and I'm not a fan of what I'm seeing in terms of the movie. I probably won't watch it, since poor adaptations make me angry. I just don't know how they can do the book justice in movie form.

I think the movie is going to suck huge hairy balls. I'm more sad than excited for it.

I was excited, but there is no way to really make the movie as good as the book. If I see it, I am going to treat it as it's own thing. Like Wicked the musical is only loosely based on the book.

I'm sad to hear they changed so much about it. I do plan to see it, but not in theaters. It does seem less plausible that a 16/17yo kid would experience such an emotional impact, but I'll try to suspend my disbelief.
