"Not gonna lie; I kind of keep expecting you to post one day that you threw down on someone who clearly had no idea that today was NOT THEIR DAY." ~dontcallmeshirley
For some unknown reason, I started a binge watch of Twin Peaks the other night. I watched it when it was broadcast (my senior year in college) and I remember it being sooooo gripping, so fascinating, so cool. Now, it's just uncomfortable. I don't know if it hasn't aged well or if I've aged past thinking that long pauses are cool... or if there was something about having to wait for episodes.
Can I tell you how heartbroken I was when I got this through Netflix a while back and it was nothing like the glorious show I remember? A small part of me died. The soundtrack is still the shit, though.
ITA on the soundtrack.
Also, since moving out here, I recognize a bunch of the locations, so that's fun.
Thank your lucky stars cause that movie was some bullshit. Blue bullshit
My husband loves this fucking movie and I'm all, honey, I saw this shit. We called it Ferngully Dances with Wolves.
EXACTLY.
I've seen maybe 5 episodes of Buffy, but I still know who Willow and Angel and the bad guy-turned-love interest dude are. I have no interest in seeing more.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
full house does NOT stand up. it is a shitty, shit, shitshow
It was always a shitty show. So was Saved by the Bell. Why didn't these people have parents?
You both shut your whore mouths!!
If I may make us all feel better about contemporary TV (and even movies and music) - there is so much variety these days, something that seems like a huge cultural milestone is really only watched by a fraction of the population. The most recent Mad Men finale drew 3.6 mil viewers, so around 1% of the population of the US. Compare and contrast with the MASH finale, watched by about 50% of the population at the time.
Netflix doesn't release viewership numbers, but they've got somewhere around 40 mil subs in the US, and a quick google can't tell me how many of those are streaming vs discs. I'd be shocked if 10 mil people in the US have seen either OITNB or HoC.
There's just so much entertainment these days, relatively few people have seen each piece.

Look, woman, we have discussed this before. Of course 50% of the population watched Mash. The season Mash ended there were three TV channels. You could watch Mash or you could watch Monday night football or Monday Night at the Movies.
Hot Lips Houlihan looks even better compared to Joe Namath. I'm just saying.
Golden Girls and Designing Women were my FAVORITE SHOWS. Also, Dallas.
I also loved A Different World... Whitley, Dwayne Wayne...love. For some reason, I loved Whitley even though she was kind of a jerk, IIRC. She was my favorite.
And until this thread I didn't realize that Kim K was peed on in her sex tape. Because I never watched it.
In FACT, I've never seen a single celebrity sex tape, except for the short blurred out excerpts that show up on E news or the like. I have no interest in watching celebrities have sex.
What I don't know about Asia could fill half of the library of Congress. I am trying to remedy that.
Also, I never saw Alias. Even once. I didn't even know Jennifer Garner was on it.
I was obsessed with Alias for a really long time, but never saw the final season and I really have no clue how it ended. Nor can I really remember the details of the story from the previous seasons that I did watch.
Speaking of Golden Girls, it really does hold up. It is still freaking hilarious. And feminist!
This is true. And while it doesn't hold up as well overall as Golden Girls, Murphy Brown was way more overtly feminist than the bullshit we're fed on network sitcoms now. Murphy Brown >>>> Claire Dunphy (and I LIKE Modern Family. It's just brain candy).

Because Whitley had class and Whitley could be shamed into being decent. She was no Regina George lol.
Lord I love Whitley lol.
And of course you love Whitley. I'm not even a bit surprised. You like elegant ladies who get shit done. You know Whitley would wear a curtain dress and snatch up Suellen's suitor if that meant putting food in everyone's belly. Suellen was a snatch anyway. Frank Kennedy was better off with Scarlett. You know, until he got shot riding hell for leather with the damned KKK.

I watched the first few minutes of Colin Farrell's because well, Colin Farrell. Then I fell out and died when he said he could eat snatch for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and couldn't go any further lol.

I watched an episode of Alias the other night. I'm trying to find shows for my 12 year old to watch. He fell asleep and I couldn't get over how dumb Sydney (I think that's her name) was for telling her stupid ass boyfriend that she is a super spy and how even dumber her boyfriend was for drunk dialing her and telling her ON THE PHONE that he didn't care that she was a secret spy. He still wanted to marry her and have her babies.
Dumb fucking ass. IT'S YOUR FAULT HE'S DEAD, STUPID! And his fault too but mostly hers.
