I put this on ML as well since Sims discussions pop up over there every now and then. Thought I would share here too.
EA is "retiring" Sims 2. But before they are gone completely, you can download the game and all the expansion packs for free. It'll take awhile, as its something like 12gbs. Just thought I would throw it out there for anyone who prefers 2 over 3, or can't run 3 for whatever reason.
I haven't played 3 in a while. I may just download some of 2 for my laptop. I have all the physical discs of the ones I owned in the basement but I don't feel like digging them out.
Connor: In the name of liberty, I will fight the enemy regardless of their allegiance. While men of courage write history of this day, the future of our land depends on those who are truly free.
I'm excited. I have Sims 2 but zero expansions, so I guess now is the time to try them all. I think Pets and University will be my top choices....
Pets can slowly get annoying. Uni was great if you play by trying to hit lifetime achievement without cheats. My favorite is still Seasons though, hands down! I love being able to grow my own fruits and veg, the variety that the weather adds.

I loved Apartments. I like to to hit lifetime achievements without cheats. So it was fun to rent. Also enjoyed Seasons for the same things you mentioned.

I barely got to play apartments before I just couldn't play anymore. My computer was too old and with all 7 expansions...it took over 30 minutes to load the game and around 30 minutes to change lots/go downtown, etc. However, I have a newer computer now and just have to get the games reloaded!

I would love this if I didn't have everything for Sims 3. Apartments and Seasons were awesome in 2, though. OH! And Open for Business. I loved making my own shop. I'm really disappointed with how they handled "Apartments" (or pent houses, whatever) in 3 and OFB. Gah, now that I remember that I might have to download this just in case.

You don't even need to download. You just need to sign up for Origin and put in the code. Than you should be able to download from the cloud whenever. Not sure if you are familiar with origin. You can put in your codes for your sims 3 games and they can be downloaded from the cloud too. It's awesome because I actually lost my World Adventures discs!
Not sure if anyone else is having problems but I downloaded this and it constantly crashes.
I tried playing a little bit over the weekend, but I'm too used to my Sims 3 and couldn't do it. I haven't built up enough nostalgia. I didn't have any crashes though and it loaded up quickly. H is downloading it as well and he plans to play it today or tomorrow. I will see if he has any issues.
I booted mine up last night and didn't notice any problems. Also...FINALLY! I CAN PLAY AGAIN!! The newer computer my brother gave me plus the graphics card my H installed...the game loaded in about 10 minutes. It was less than 5 minutes to switch between a town and adding in the Uni and going there!! (It used to literally take me 30 minutes to switch between areas at least 10+ minutes to switch between lots, which is why I stopped playing.)
Now I need to get all my CC and mods back in it. I didn't remember to look if bodyshop installed though, anyone else happen to know? I always thought it was so stupid that if you make a Sim ingame, you have half the customization options for features than if you go in to the separate bodyshop.
Btw, my H is so cute. He came upstairs to get ready for bed, saw that I was simming and started commenting on the simlish conversation (they were arguing about not liking tennis but that money is good, especially in a safe.) This was our convo we just had (he's grey)
I haven't had any issues. The first time everything loaded up took a bit, but it seems to be smooth sailing from then on.
I do get confused as to which features are Sims 2 vs. 3. I have 3 and the ambitions expansion, but don't play it a ton. I feel like in Sims 3 you get more "free time" to explore between work hours. I swear it takes longer for my sim to cook, eat, and shower in 2.
Yes!! Peggle is lots of fun! Also, H and I like the sounds The bouncing makes us happy and when you win, it plays the Ode to Joy which just feels sooooo triumphant!
I had been playing it on H's computer and he said it was free so he put it on mine. I didn't realize that's where he saw it for free.
I tried Peggle last night and loved it! It's so addictive. The Ode to Joy was so hilarious the first time it played. I'm now on Stage 3 - it sure gets challenging fast.
