Let me sum up: a grad student drives his project and makes an observation that leads him to take it in a new direction. He comes up with an idea for a new series of experiments, and instead of doing the small pilot experiment himself, his advisor and the money give it to money's daughter to do for a science fair, with no intellectual contribution on her part. And as research ethics dictate, money's daughter was included in the acknowledgements for technical assistance. All normal, or normalish (usually it'd be an undergrad doing the pilot experiment) so far.
Then the media starts interviewing some name in the acknowledgments for some reason, and now headlines say OMG 12 YEAR OLD REVOLUTIONIZED SCIENCE WHEN TAKING A BREAK FROM PLAYING DODGEBALL, and somehow the actual scientist is "a whiny douchebag" for calling fuckery on this? That makes no damn sense. Of course he's calling fuckery, because it IS fuckery.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
