Meh, that's really nothing new--variants of those quotes have been popping up for weeks.
If it alienates anyone, it will be the fans who only know/love #10 or #11. Because it really sounds like they're throwing it back to the older Doctors--most of whom were more aloof toward their companions.

I'll admit I'm looking forward to a season without any romantic suggestions between Doctor and Companion. Remember how refreshing it was to watch Ten and Donna together? I'm cautious but interested in a grumpy Doctor.

This.
I hated the romantic elements thrown in at the end of eleven. Okay, I actually disliked all of the romances except River.

I'm sure this is Doctor Who sacrilege, but I don't even like Ten and Rose romance. I'm all about platonic Companion/Doctor combos!

Same. I always found Rose whiny, especially in the S4 finale. It probably didn't help that the first episodes I saw were with Donna. Though I didn't mind Rose as much with Eccleston.
I'm excited to have an older more serious Doctor. I'm really looking forward to the new season. I just changed my signature in honor of the new Doctor.

I'm in this camp. I can't stand Rose, and (I'm probably going to be ousted from the board for this) I wasn't that fond of Amy either!
I don't mind River, because she's always been a very kick-butt-and-take-names kind of character. Of the companions, I loved the rapport with Donna, and while I didn't find Martha particularly interesting, I still like the show as a whole with her as a companion. This is one of the more obscure reasons I like Blink. They let the flirting fall to the episode characters instead of bogging down the Doctor with it. Seriously, he's become a little co-dependent!
And while I'm thinking about Martha, has anyone watched The Carrie Diaries? Seeing Martha playing an over-the-top socialite is so weird! It felt like I was watching a Doctor Who episode where Martha had been completely brainwashed. Especially since her character is ridiculously unbelievable.
