It's this coming Sunday. I think the invite list is about 40-50, we will probably get 25-30. It's space themed. I made a rocket ship out of cardboard and duct tape, msniq is baking star and moon shaped cookies, the playlist will have space themed music, etc.
Thanks for tagging me @mrswindycity. DS started recognizing words before 2 ( like 15-16 months old) It started with STOP signs and just built from there. He loved SUPERWHY! and I credit that for most of his ability recognize all of his letters by 18 months old. At around 2 he started reading little sight words and now he has about 25 words he can spell ( Charlie, Thomas, Our LN ( which is long) Mom, Dad, Dog, Stop, Go, To , The, Exit, Enterance, Caution, Trash, Verizon ( without seeing the logo), Frozen ( LOL), Poop, In, Out, Bus, Love, and a few others I am forgetting.) He can is now at 2.5 working on sounding some short words out and reading a few small parts of books. He also memorizes books and logos.
It's crazy, we never did flashcards either ( except when he found some at a yard sale and made me buy them) we just let him take the lead and this was one of his interests. What I find interesting is that it ebbs and flows. Like right now he is really into building and climbing and not reading as much or gaining words as fast. It seems once he masters one interest to a certain level it takes a back seat to another and then comes around again in a few months.
Hey, November/December 2013 moms: how are you feeling with babies that are now nearly 2/3 or 3/4 of a year old?! How are your babies doing? Crawling? Teeth?
Please tag anyone else I am currently blanking on. I have an 8-month-old boycotting her nap right now, so my brain is fried!
Well, just this morning as I was scrolling through FB seeing all the first day of school pics, I made Paisley promise that she will stay a baby forever.. sooo
She has finally cut her 2 front teeth. The last few weeks were touch & go with her. She is overall an incredibly happy baby, so the constant fussing from her teeth was more than this mama could handle.
She's scooting around on her belly, it's hilarious. She hikes one of her knees up then pushes forward, kind of like an army crawl.

I'm doing ok. Today was her first day at daycare, and while drop-off went well, she was refusing her bottles when I called a couple of hours ago so I'm upset and anxious now, and I'm missing my sweet girl. Overall though, we're doing well. She's becoming so much more fun and I'm enjoying her more and more.
She has her two bottom teeth, those popped up about a month ago. She's not crawling, but I think she might be getting the hang of sitting finally! I had also just gotten to the point where she was taking at least one decent nap a day, but I'm sure adjusting to daycare is going to mess it all up again!
I can't remember who besides @marshmallows got new jobs recently. How are they going?
I've been at mine since mid-June. It's going great. I'm blowing $8K on training over the next few months (part of my payout from previous job), so hopefully some of it actually makes me more useful at my job. Oh, and my boss got a promotion, so I'm doomed to a new boss. I liked my current boss a lot.
ssmjlm -- has the job situation gotten any better?
Nope. I had a long discussion with my director about the way forward and he has as many questions as we do to present to his leadership. Unfortunately while I completely understand the leaders have the ability to basically "give us our marching orders," I'm not sure they understand truly how that affects the day to day work. It also gives my boss more work, when she's supposed to be shifting to an even bigger leader role vs manager.
But I've done what I can and will support my staff as best as I am able under the conditions. I don't know that anything will be resolved in the near future.

Doing well! She is sort of army crawling, but not really quickly or far. She finally started sitting well a couple of weeks ago, but much prefers her belly. She has her two bottom front teeth, but that's it. She talks up a storm, but no words yet (obviously? IDK when to expect them). Daycare insists that she is starting to wave, but she will never do it when we are really looking. Sleep is OK for now, but we have to find a new solution for naps at home. She is still in the swing, but will outgrow it soon. She is still pretty short and maybe 16 or so pounds, so we can get away with it for now. But we are definitely pushing it. It is weird to me that she has been out of the womb for almost as long as she was in it. Now I just need to get out of my maternity pants...
How is your LO, bunnybean? You didn't answer yet.
Also, I may be wrong, but I think namasteak had a winter baby? I might be mixing her up with someone else, but I think we were on GP around the same time.

I always mean to post more, but am hesitant to jump in. Hopefully it is ok to include myself on this. I can't believe DD is getting close to a year old. It is going by so fast. She is doing so great and we are loving being parents. She is generally a happy baby. She just started crawling two weeks ago so we are still figuring out watching her like a hawk and containing her. She has two bottom teeth, but I think she is getting more because the drool does not stop!
zarapipe -- any updates on the name situation? I feel very invested, lol
No updates- no name. We're still talking about it a bit if a new name pops into our heads, but that's about it. I expect to decide in the hospital. He did suggest "Calista" last night...

I'm December - 8 months old on the 21st! He has been hitting so many milestones in the past 2 weeks he learned how to say mama, pull himself to his knees and feet from laying down, getting better at crawling although it still looks like he's doing the worm. He loves pouches - he eats them so fast! He's also getting better at drinking from a straw. He has two bottom teeth and I think he's about to get more. DS boycotted his nap last week - fun times. I think he may have a cold now so last night was fuunnn lol.

I know my opinion is meaningless here, lol, but I love Calista. Best name you've mentioned thus far, IMO.

Not ready for her to be a year old! I booked her one year photo shoot/cake smash the other day and was all verklempt over it. Pre-kids I always felt like the time between September and the new year flies by, and I am expecting it to go even faster now. I look forward to her getting older/bigger in so many ways, but I really feel like I blinked and she turned 8 months old, and I hate that.
She's doing well except she won't stop getting sick. June has been our only illness-free month since March. It's wearing on all of us, and my and H's jobs, and I could cry just thinking about it. And they're not even illnesses of the serious variety, so I'm sure I sound really dramatic, but she wasn't STTN to begin with so when her sleep gets bad, it's that much worse. <--- see, that sentence doesn't even make sense. I am trying to say I sound dramatic/am dramatic because I'm freaking exhausted.
Other than that, I love this age. She's so funny, and charming, and fiesty; she's crawling everywhere, just started saying "baba" and we think we heard "dada" last night, has figured out how to clap, and is cruising along the furniture. She also recently got her third tooth, and is working on her fourth - all on the bottom. Every day it's something new, and every day I love being her Mom more and more!

I like Calista. I actually like a lot of your husband's names
redheadk -- have you guys officially weaned? How did it go/is it going?
We are officially weaned! I still have milk and she still asks and, truth be told, I wouldn't completely mind still nursing but I'm also ready to be done. I think we may move our TTC timeline up and I want some time to have my body to myself for a bit.

DS will be 9 months old next week. I can't believe how fast it is going. He's crawling in turbo mode. And is pulling up on everything and cruising along furniture. Even tries to let go and just stand but he immediately falls over. lol No freaking teeth yet! I cannot believe it! I thought he would get teeth early. Feeding solids is not going great, but I'm trying not to stress about it.

Thanks for asking, that was really nice of you
How did you do it? Mine will not quit the tit.
And ttc... interesting...
Well, my DH is home for bedtime so that makes things infinitely simpler. Sort of.
We have been down to just before bedtime for months now so we just traded places and DH is putting her to bed. She DOES NOT like it, not one bit. She asks for it sometimes (at night when I'm getting her pjs on her, and once she asked at nap time) but she still goes down and falls asleep quickly and sleeps for the same amount of time at night. I do have major guilt over her still asking and question myself every single day.
My AAA - 212 - how the F did you potty train J already? O expresses interest in the potty, but it's almost exclusively directed at flushing the toilet.
J has always had 'tells' when he was gong to the bathroom, so I introduced the potty (casually) a loooooong time ago. My mum noticed that he was telling everyone when he was going or about to go when I was away a few weeks ago, so I started looking into it. Read the 3 day method, talked to the pedi, bought underwear. Did a big "bye diapers ceremony," bought a bunch of cheap rewards on amazon (cars, snacks, lollipops, etc) and shacked up at home for the first 3 days. He's still in diapers at night because I really believe night training is hormonal, so I'm not pushing that at all. But other than that he's in underwear. It's not perfect (and it's annoying to lug around a potty seat!) but no accidents in days.
