I have kicked my Starbucks habit. It made me sick to think about drinking away all of that money with nothing to show for it. Instead of near daily I am down to maybe 2 or 3 times a month.
That's awesome! I kicked mine too and it feels awesome. In fact, I just tried to refill my starbucks card and the credit cards attached to it were both expired -- clearly it has been a while since I've reloaded. When I do buy a coffee it is an americano, not a latte :-)
The house we are building is a modular home so less expensive to build. Then we fell in love with a model on the lot they need to sell so we got an additional discount! So, from the time the basement is dug to move in is approximately a month. Now to get the building permit done.

I thought of another one! We just bought a new mattress for our guest room. We went to the local Sears store and found one that was on sale for 40% off that was perfect. The salesperson said that it would be on for 50% off the following weekend but because we needed it right away, she would refund the different in the sale prices the following weekend. A credit for $85 showed up on my CC today!
Mine is so big I'm almost afraid to post it, lest I get flamed a' la @gingerbb on ML. I reviewed our budget now that the wedding is over, and holy shit, we can save a lot of money. I thought we could get to 50k per kid before they each go to college, but when I ran the numbers, I saw that we can pretty easily get to 100k each, plus do over 20% to retirement, plus save for other goals. I was shocked. I grew up really poor so those numbers still astound me.
DH and I were starting to plan a trip to a few of the national parks out west. Earlier this week, DH found he has to attend a week-long training in the same general location the week before we were planning our trip for. So he's going to the training and then we're kicking off our vacation the minute his training concludes on Friday afternoon. This equates to his cross-country flights being paid for the company as "business travel". I booked one of my flights with airline miles, which cost a whopping $5.50 in fees and paid for the other flight (<$200). When we originally priced out flights for the two of us, it was around $1k, so I'm pretty excited about this latest turn in events :-D
This week I'm on vacation with friends and H. For a whole week we're renting an awesome house right on the beach for $350/pp. We're all good cooks so we're making delicious meals and having a marvelous time on the beach. The weather has also been amazing.
Full out brag: This one looks AMAHZING on me (Ted Baker)

I got a raise this week because my bosses told the owner of our company that I am awesome. I was scared because I knew they were talking about me and I thought there was a problem with my certification because we were talking about it right before they all went into the office and closed the door. Turns out my boss and her boss both were pushing for a pretty big raise. I am so stinkin' stoked! I got a decent raise two months ago when I returned from maternity leave. I work for a tiny company with only 6 employees, but I am the only one that didn't get hired from a personal recommendation, because I didn't know anyone. I dropped off a resume one day, because I was already certified from my previous job, and just kept pestering until they hired me.
The battery and sleep/wake switch on my not-quite-2-year-old iPhone are dying. Made an Amex extended warranty claim last week, and it was just approved in the amount of a full refund of what I paid for the phone ($468). Apple will give me a replacement for $269. Very happy with that result.
ETA: I just checked my online statement and the claim was approved last night and the credit has already hit my account!
Speaking of which -- rikki, how's your phone doing?
I switched from e-surance to Travelers and we'll be saving about $60/month. All the other quotes would have save us much less. I keep thinking I forgot to add something, but it appears the coverage is the same.
I called Time Warner and to reduce our internet speed. Apparently on the lower speeds, they charge an extra $10 for wifi, even though we have our own router. And their modem can detect if you are using a router. I've read that I can get around this charge and the monthly modem rental fee by buying my own modem, so I think I'm going to try that next. It took an act of Jesus just to get her to downgrade our speed, so this should be fun.
I'm also considering getting rid of my smart phone. I feel too connected these days. I can use my tablet when I have wifi. I have GPS in my car. I don't really *need* a smartphone and I feel like my time could be spent doing something more productive. But....I don't know yet.
I spent far less this summer than I have in previous years, thanks in part to DD spending extra time with her grandparents.
I got a step increase at work, which amounts to peanuts but is at least something!
I have a good chance of picking up some tutoring gigs over this school year and will net an extra $1-200 per pay period, depending on how many hours I can get. This will all go towards retirement and our next vacation.
We booked our vacation on my birthday and the price has steadily increased since then. It is now pricing at about $1000 more than what we paid.

Make sure you check with TW re: the modem charges. For me, the recently took away the savings for having our own modem rather than renting. I hate them.

I had to get a new one. It might have resolved itself with more time in rice, but I got impatient and wanted to make sure it worked before we left. I haven't filed anything with Amex yet, but I plan to.

We're due with our second little this fall, and I've been scouring "deal websites" for a newborn photo session. Found one the other day--$30 instead of the photographer's regular rate of $250.

Awesome! I am trying to kick my habit. It is just so hard.
We just got back from a very much needed for our continued sanity two day getaway. I purchased it through groupon and we packed snacks, water, pop, beer, etc to help cut down on costs at the hotel. That being said, we did not hold back on dinners or lunches so maybe it was a wash.

I called my doctor about an Rx that was $221 that they thought might help but it took the pharmacy a week to find it and fill it. In the mean time the other meds got the pain under control and my doctor agreed I didn't need the$221 med.
We switched to a Capital One 360 savings account. We made $10 in interest last month, obviously I'm not going to get rich of interest or anything but that is more that I got all last year when my savings was at a bricks and mortar bank.
