I go to the MOA and exclusively shop I between Nordstrom and the former Bloomingdales location. One wing is the way to go. Plus there are less teenagers and better stores.
Definitely find out whether you will be by Target Field, where the Twins play, or Target Center, where the Timberwolves play. Very different areas of downtown.
I agree with the restaurant recommendations of others, although I confess the love of Keys has always baffled me.

I love MOA. I almost always eat at Crave and tear up Nordstrom. Plus you can take the light rail from Target Field right to it. You might also want to check out the new Twin Cities Premium Outlets in Eagan.

Target Field.
Am I the only one from MN confused by this? I've been to both Target Center and Target Field several times. They are next door to each other. I missing how they are different areas of town.

I was thinking the same thing. They practially share sidewalks.

Minneapolis lurker here, and I was totally lost on that. Maybe the poster was thinking the difference between target field and the metrodome (May it rest in peace).
I just went to French Meadow -delish. And I always suggest Sea Salt next to Minnehaha Falls, though the line gets pretty excessive in the evenings. Maybe it will be calmer in September.
MOA is my mall...it's really close to home, and I totally love it. I love tiger sushi ( just moved to outside nordstroms), crave, the damn crepe stand could feed me every meal for days.

I have always wondered how the crepe place stayed so busy. Then again, I wonder that about several places in the MOA.
Take the time to check out the lakes, they are nice to walk around and even kayak/canoe/paddleboard. Across the river from downtown there are some nice places with outdoor dining on the river. My fav is Aster Cafe, but Wilde Roast is good also (I just haven't been there in a while). Brasa is a great place to eat too. Victor's 1959 is great Cuban Food. It is a whole in the wall and I love it (even before the Food Network went there). There is a Whole Foods downtown, so it also is an option for meals and not having to eat out at a restaurant all the time.
Weekends- Duluth is a 2ish hour drive, I find the real beauty of the North Shore beyond Duluth on HWY 61. Taylors Falls is a nice day trip, there is a pick your own apple orchard on the way. Winona is a beautiful drive when the leaves are changing, it is SE MN along the river and in the bluffs.
Public transportation is eh. You can take the lightrail to the MOA and eat at the Hard Rock Cafe

Apparently between yoteach and I I will take a nutella crepe every day and twice on Sunday! Although, I do not go that often. Sea Salt is great, if you like seafood, otherwise the menu is limited.
Unfortunately Totino's closed I'm STILL sad about that. Definitely try Smack Shack. Anything in NE Minneapolis, the drinks are cheaper and the food is good.
Jumping in again (I'm a lurker from another board, but figured I'd join a thread I can actually contribute to!). Definitely agree with nuggetbrain about Cossetta's if you get to St. Paul. And wino is wise about The Nook, although I actually recommend their sister restaurant Shamrock's instead. Same food, bigger restaurant/bar, better atmosphere. And HUGE TV screen if you have the desire to take in a Vikings or Twins game. Another good St. Paul restaurant is Great Waters Brewing Company. They do kegs, pegs and eggs on Sunday mornings and it is fun!
I was also super confused about the comment that Target Center and Target Field are different areas of town. They share parking ramps and are basically right next door to one another.
If you'll have a car at all, you could take a day to go to Stillwater. It's right on the St. Croix river and is gorgeous this time of year. You can sit on a patio at the Freight House or somewhere else and have dinner with a great view. They also have a really fun old timey candy shop in town!

I have never been to Shamrocks. They are owned by the same people, right? I have a special place in my heart for the Nook. I have family history there.

Yep, same families (Casper & Runyon) own it. They actually call it "Casper & Runyon's Irish Nook."

Sorry all! My thought on Target Field versus Target Center is that if you are nearby to Target Field, you are probably more in the North Loop. If you are near Target Center, you are more squarely in the center of downtown. Yes the facilities are near each other, but things near each would sort of be in opposite directions.
This may make sense to only me. But for instance being near Target Field makes me think you'd be near Bar La Grassa. Smack Shack, etc. I wouldn't consider those that near where you'd be if you were working near Target Center.
agree with Pizza Luce, Matt's, The Nook, cosettas.
also Vincent is downtown and has a great happy hour in the bar. It's a nice French place. Love it! Brits and Local also good happy hour spots. Oceanaire is a chain but they have really good happy hours too and great seafood.
keys is good for breakfast. There are some good lunch spots in the skyways, ginellies pizza and falafel king are 2 I like.
psycho Suzis is fun in NE, I like the tiki drinks
i love Sea Salt at Minnehaha falls.
i also love MOA. Nordstroms, Burberry, Nordstrom Rack, etc! And Target Field is very nice if you want to catch a game.
