Hi Everyone! I have almost 4 year old boy/girl twins after 2 years of TTC and fertility treatments. They were born at 32 weeks after 5 weeks of hospital bed rest for preterm labor.
I'm at the stage where while they are totally exhausting, watching them learn and becoming little people is amazing. We are considering having another one in the next few years. We will not do fertility treatments though because doctors have been clear that my body would not handle another multiple pregnancy, so more kids may not be in the picture.
Both are potty trained however my DS just recently potty trained this summer. He was a lone stubborn hold out. DD trained at 2.5 or so.
narwhal mine are still sleep striking too. I'm up nursing one now. We didn't do CIO with my son and I'm not comfortable doing it at this age but I don't know, what to do. They used to give me a 4 to 7 hr stretch then every 2. I can live with that but this every hour crap is killing me! I do not understand what the issue is at all.
We are attempting the 3 day method of potty training with my son today and I just want to sleep!!
I really don't want to do it either, especially because I know they CAN sleep all night. But we're getting at the end of our rope- like you are . We said we'd wait until they are 6 months adjusted, which will be Sept 11, so if you find the magic solution before then I'll pay you 10 bajillion GBCN dollars to share! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too. No sleep is literally the worst.

My ID girls are 2.5 years and Hell on Wheels. They are currently in a constantly trying to maim/kill eachother phase that might put me in a padded room.
I had a pretty easy pregnancy. I stopped working at 28 weeks because I was having super frequent Braxton Hicks. I had them one day short of my scheduled C section at 38 weeks because I was showing signs of pre e.
My girls are 18 months old. They are fraternal- Audrey is about 6 pounds heavier and an inch taller than Claire. We went through fertility treatments (femara+ovidrel). I work part time so we are able to avoid formal childcare- I hope to start them in preschool once they are 3, but for now I am enjoying my time at home with them (not to mention the $$$ we save).
I made it to 37w4d- everyone thought because am only 5'1" I wouldn't make it to term, I was happy to prove everyone wrong. Claire was 5lbs 9oz and Audrey 7lbs 7oz- Audrey spent 48 hours in the NICU due to aspirating fluid, and after we were discharged got admitted to peds for jaundice- the first few weeks were stressful, but now I wouldn't have it any other way.
I intro'd in the original post but I'll do it again. I'm an old mom (41) pregnant with 2 boys via IVF, due December 28. We weren't really expecting for the IVF to work so we were shocked when we found out it did and there were 2 of them! We have a daughter who will be 4 at the end of October and she's super excited. My family is super excited because we haven't had a boy in forever and now they get 2 of them.
I'm nervous about prematurity and I'm hoping to make it at least to Thanksgiving. There's a preterm prevention program through my perinatologist that reportedly has good outcomes and I have my first appointment this week so I'm actually looking forward to that.

Do you know what the preterm prevention program entails? I'm asking out of pure curiosity. I read that book I think titled pregnant with twins and multiples or something like that and there was a whole bunch of info in there about diet and priper weight gain contibuting to making it to term. But that book is older and I'm curious if there is new research.I find it interesting. Hopefully you can carry to term! I believe if you have carried a baby to term previously it increases your odds.
I carried my singleton to term but with the girls had pre term labor at 32w6d and held out to deliver at 36w4d. The doctors were shocked i held out so long because i was regularly contracting multiple times an hour that entire time. Thankfully no NICU time though.
@awinter, no I don't really know but I do think weight checks and nutrition are part of it and I think they follow what your cervix looks like, maybe? I can update after my appt Tuesday though.
I went right up to term with DD, actually 40 1/7 so I'm keeping my fingers, toes and legs crossed
Hey everyone! I came over because fryjack2 alluded to it being back.
I mostly post at April 2012 and H&F.
I have 2 y.o. b/g twins, born in April, so they are almost 2.5? They have separate birthdays.
Just reminiscing my pregnancy and birth last night at a birthday party with another mom. I was on bed rest at 33 weeks. Induced at 37. Fairly uneventful delivery despite the OR and million people in the room. DD was 5 lb 4 oz and DS was 6 lb 14 oz.
Today is their first day back at daycare/school they stay home with my H in the summers. It's our 4th time starting back or at a new daycare and it never gets easier. I am missing my little hellions today.
I had preterm labor with my singleton staring at 22 weeks and was on strict bedrest from 22-37 weeks when he was born (healthy and 7 lbs 10 oz)
With my twins they were monitoring me like crazy because of my history plus I had had a LEEP done so my cervix may have been compromised. I made it to 36w1d with my twins and only had about three weeks of bedrest but not as strict as with my singleton. Docs were amazed I went so long considering my history. My girls were 4lbs10oz and 5lbs7oz
Good luck! Even born at 36w we only stayed in hospital one extra day and that was because the larger baby stopped breathing at birth and was sent to the city to a hospital with a higher level NICU in case she stopped breathing again. She was back to me in 24 hours and we all left the hospital Thursday and they were born Monday before.
cinnamoncox, thanks for sharing your story. The good and bad thing about the NICU is that I worked in one for years so I know the routine. I also know several of the neonatologists at the hospital I would deliver at, though it's not the one I used to work at, where I also knew all the nurses.
Anyway, hopefully the preterm thing is a non issue but I'm looking forward to my twin program visits.

I came down with atypical HELLP at 29 weeks and delivered after the 48 hours of shots. I loosely followed the diet in the book awinter was talking about and gained the recommended 30 lbs by 20 weeks (I think that was the recommendation). When my boys were born they were 2lb 14oz and 2lb 12oz, so teeny tiny but actually a really good weight for twins at that gestation. Their NICU stay was thankfully uneventful and they just needed to mature their lungs, learn to eat and grow a bit. They both came home at 64 days and above 7 lbs. I hope you don't have preemies, the NICU and all that! It was incredibly hard, but now that we are on the other side, it does feel like a million years ago. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! Take care of yourself

Hi! I have almost 6-year-old identical twin girls. They just started 1st grade (in separate classrooms!) I also have an almost 3-year-old girl. She is more challenging than my twins put together .

Hi MoM's! I just noticed this board. A few of you look familiar from Got Pregnant, but I will intro myself here too.
I am 18.5 weeks along with spontaneous fraternal twins. We find out their genders next wednesday and I am way excited for that information. They are due in early January. We only found out there were two at a dating u/s around 12 weeks and it took us by complete surprise. I have a 6 year old daughter who is super excited to finally be a big sister. And I guess our prize for waiting so long for #2 was #3! The initial shock has worn off and we are really excited (and intimidated by the unknown of caring for two at once!)

I was on here when this board was first started but drifted off when the multiples board didn't really take off. Nice to see it here again and to see a few familiar faces. (I was on TB's multiple board since the night I found out I was having twins 6 years ago, though I haven't been on as much the past year or so.)
I have fraternal boys who will be 6 in January. They just started Kindergarten. Their looks, personalities, voices, etc., are quite different. They clash quite a bit but I think they balance each other out.
