I found that book a really effective kickstart to really examining how another's drinking had changed me, and was a catalyst for making changes i needed to make to start making sense of life again. It helped me acknowledge some hard truths about myself i had just flat out denied for a long time. It was literally like being punched in the guts sometimes, but i really needed it to change direction.
It also prompted me to finally go to al anon. And i am really glad that happened.

Sometimes we need a good gut punch to lead to change. It's hard, though! Without the pain, the change wouldn't happen. When I'm going through a hard time, I don't always remember that. Good for you that you were able to change direction katieido.
Kind of like walking around in too-tight shoes 'cause your feet are growing.
I think this is the first self-help book I've ever read. Highly rec it for anyone married to an alcoholic or with mental illness, especially if you can't get to Al-Anon meetings.
i absolutely LOVED this book!! I highly recc it as well!
