Today is dd's first day of kindergarten. I figured I would pick her up, but she wanted to ride the bus home with her friends. I need to stop babying her, but I can't stop thinking about how she is going to carry a lunch tray or ride the big bus. And yes I know I'm being ridiculous.

Oh goodness, countthestars. Things can only go up from here!
I wore flip flops to work today on accident. I only have a ~6 minute drive home and I'm too lazy to go get real shoes. I'll just keep my feet planted under my desk today.

Last night my kid went to bed w/out cuddling or his "milk for bed." He just got into bed and said goodnight. Then this morning he got out of bed on his own and went to the bathroom and then went back to bed. My kid is sooo old.
At what age does a kid stay under a blanket at night? DD will be 2 in November, and I'm trying to figure out if I should order another sleep sack for this winter or not...

We just got back from a long weekend, we went to visit DH's parents & had a nice time.
Daycare just called to say they think M is ready to move up to the next classroom. He's only been in his current classroom since June, so not even 3 months...
@supergreen has your DH ever been tested for sleep apnea?

My mum is here helping me but her idea of what's important does not jive with mine. Yesterday I got home from work to find all of my shorts neatly ironed but I still had to cook. What the actual fuck Mum?
Do we have the same mom? Mine irons t-shirts or cleans behind the fridge. Last time we moved, she decided to spend 3 hours steam cleaning my couches (rather than helping to pack, like I asked), then was too tired after cleaning couches to finish packing. I was also about 28 weeks pregnant and nearly killed her.

DH did daycare drop off for the first time today and sent me the following text: "Oh my goodness, that was tougher than I thought!" I assumed he was talking about the routine of her my day sheet, signing in, etc. But he said leaving the building without her was tough! So sweet!
UGH, I have an extra long weekend because I took Thur/Fri off, plus Labor Day. Our friends rented a beach house this week, so we've talked - literally - all summer about going down there for the end of this week. DH had the time off, great.
As we're supposed to leave in, 30 hours or so, DH just informed me he does not have tomorrow night off. WTF. We'll still join them for part of Thursday into Friday, but it's just the last minute, "I didn't quite listen when you were talking for the past two months, I screwed up and not only messed up my own fun, but plans for everyone else that had to schedule around me" that is incredibly frustrating.
I just submitted three separate vacation requests in one email. I feel like a slacker even though I've barely taken time off this summer. Pass me a work beer.
ETA: while I was typing they were approved. Now I need celebration beer!

Ew, that Sofia Vergara stunt is so trashy. I never watched Modern Family, I've heard it's awesome, but she annoys the shit out of me, sorrynotsorry. This is another nail in the coffin.
I took Ryan back-to-school shopping today. I forgot how much I love the smell of office supplies! I seriously wanted to walk around sniffing everything (I refrained, don't worry), lol.

Was it supposed to be an inside joke I just don't get because I don't watch or just blatant sexism?
I overslept this morning so DD and I were late getting out the door to daycare and work.
I lost my car keys and the spare needs a battery so I have to take the key fob apart to unlock my door. It's annoying.
Get to daycare, DD has a meltdown about me leaving . I stay longer but no luck, so I decide to just go. Realize that I didn't bring milk for her.
Run to dunkin to buy a milk (deal with key fob 2 more times). Have no wallet. Find $2 in quarters in my car. Total is $1.81. One of my quarters is a nickel. Go back to the car for the penny !&$?!*^# (key fob), back to daycare (key fob) and finally to work. Gah!
Oh gah! I've had mornings like that and they don't bode well for the rest of the day.
I think at this point I would have gone back home and climbed in bed... it is an omen

Appears to be blatant sexism, which she seems to eat up. I get wanting to show it if you've got it, but it's gets so old when it's all the time.

DD was in a mood at daycare drop off yesterday. H said she gave him such sadface that it scarred him all day. He snuggled her so hard when we got home, lol/melt. She was acting much more herself this morning, thankfully.
My friend just had a baby and I want to bring her something, so I asked if they had dietary restrictions. No gluten, nuts, onion or garlic I'm making some carrot soup with basil yogurt to mix in, and probably that Smitten Kitchen cake with peaches instead of strawberries. It's just her H that doesn't do gluten, so she can have that all for herself

My tuesday got off to a rough start... the cat (damn demon cat) decided to start meowing at the top of its lungs at 5 am... finally got him (he hids after he does this shit) and threw him out the front door, but by the time my heart stopped thumping and I fell back asleep my alarm went off. I got out of bed after 3 snooze hits, made coffee, packed C's bag, did my hair and makeup and he still wasn't awake. I finally went in a woke him up at 7:05 (we are usually at daycare by 7) and he just wanted to snuggle. Got to daycare at 7:35, he melted down when I was leaving, hit a ton of traffic because I was 1/2 behind and then didn't find a decent parking spot at work because the college students started back up last week. Hiked almost a mile (in heels) to my office. I'm tired and now my feet hurt
I met up with an old friend, we have known each other since we were 5 or 6, and had a great time. We had not seen each other for a few years and just realized we live in the same neighborhood. It was so much fun seeing each other. IT was easy, and nothing was forced. It was also nice because we already know one another's family and personal history.
We also had a great discussion about how horrible mommy wars are and why we can't just support one another. We do not have to agree with everything but we don't have to put others down. My friend said it best, "don't we all have the same goal, of providing the best we can for our child." She told me some stuff she does for her kids that she typically does not tell others, because they all judge her.

This does not answer your question, but it is my issues with blankets.
DD just turned 2 in July. Just recently she has really wanted a blanket on her. So much so, that she will wake up in the middle of the night and start crying if the blanket is not covering her. I need to find some longer blankets that will not move as much for her.

This is exactly my problem too! All of her "baby" blankets no longer cover her not-so-little anymore body (she's 36" tall!). I can't decide if I should make/ buy a larger blanket (toddler bed size?), or buy a bigger sleep sack? OR both?
