Why not pack non-perishables like cereal and those bisquick pancake batter in a jug things to save money and actually just spend the grocery money on the perishables like milk and butter.
If we do Bisquick I still have to butter those pancakes!
Did you miss where I said to buy the perishables like milk and butter?
Ugh, serenity's on my list. She CALLED US OUT for telling people in bad work environments to get a new job or go to HR. We need to be more supportive and cognizant of those working in fucked-up conditions (read: small companies), apparently.
Also, no one is chasing cloudbee from the boards. We will mock this probably today and then something new will distract us. Heck, lice papie is practically a distant memory.
I rarely use butter on anything, a pound lasts months in our house unless I bake something. The only things I INSIST on buttering are pancakes and waffles. But then I use the Kerry imported butter at $6.00 for a tiny chunk. So I guess I'm not MM and have no business in this thread.
Yes, I'm super sensitive and outspoken lately. I'm rebuilding my self-esteem after leaving a verbally and emotionally abusive marriage. As I read books about and really pay attention to the way people treat each other, I guess I just don't find shit like this funny anymore.

Hey, I get that. But most of us here are mocking WITH LOVE. Plus now any time someone asks about what to pack for a trip, we get to tell them butter! Fun!

But why are you drawing the line at intercontinental ooking ingredients? Surely we've mocked worse here
I'm sure there has been worse. I'm just at that point in my process where I'm finally recognizing that my thoughts and feelings are as valid as anyone else's and I'm not afraid to express them. It has always rubbed me the wrong way when someone asks an honest question and then gets made fun of for pages about it, and then called out on another board for more pages of mocking. Yes, CloudBee is taking it in stride... great. I've been mocked like this before and I took it in stride, too. But from my point of view now, it just seems so unnecessary and ridiculous. ::shrug:: Just speaking my mind.
When we were young & broke I packed cereal singles individual soy milks ( the little juice box kind that don't need refrigeration ) granola bars, bowls & spoons ( 1 of each plastic) so we could have breakfast in our room on vacations.
I also pack sunbutter when we go places because DS has a peanut allergy & it's hard to find.
I have never packed butter, I love CloudBee though.
Really? Because when we were young and broke we just didn't go on vacation
I have definitely taken packets of oatmeal and used hotel coffee makers to heat the water only to realize that had no bowls in which to eat the oatmeal out of.
At this point I'm enjoying the other weird food confessions that have come out in these posts more than the butter topic itself, like sour cream on pancakes, and the poster in the MM thread who never uses communal condiments. No salt, no pepper, no ketchup, ever. Amazing!

Ftr, I think it is flat out crazy to pack butter!
But, butter girl is one of my best friends ever and while she's going to stay at a condo at a resort in the Bahamas, I'm staying on an air mattress in my parents' house. Someone got the better financial sense in this friendship and it ain't snips. LOL. :-p

Yeah we were like medium broke. Like we could go on vacation IF we packed shit for breakfast, stayed in a cheap hotel AND had a yardsale for gas money. LOL!
Ok, so for our last vacation I packed a huge box of groceries, a cooler full of perishables, and a box of booze. But we were driving, not flying, so that's ok, right? Or am I Butter Girl, too?

Yes, you packed some items that don't need refrigeration like a normal person... Not butter! No way would I eat any butter from a suitcase, even if it was salted butter! My husband who would eat an unwashed carrot from the ground threw away an unsalted butter stick that was on the counter for an hour. Dairy is not an area to cheap out on.
I'm not packing butter in my suitcase, but really? Have you never used a butter dish? I have been eating unrefrigerated butter for 31 years and am none the worse for wear. Cold butter doesn't spread on bread!
I keep my butter in the fridge, and I don't know anyone who doesn't keep it in the fridge. I will soften a bit in the microwave if having toast or something and want butter. We rarely use butter for anything other than cooking though, and it works fine from the fridge.
I'm ok with salted butter being out for dinner, but I would be uneasy leaving it out for more than a few hours. A cat would probably eat it anyway if left unsupervised lol
