I've been converted to Sun Ramen by Blue Apron. In fact we're remaking this recipe tonight and I've been thinking about it all weekend (and had to go to 4 different stores to get all the ingredients because the shelves were BARE everywhere): www.blueapron.com/recipes/chicken-tsukune-spring-ramen . Only one store in all of Utah carries this brand but it is so good!
Growing up, my mom made pork flavored Maruchan ramen with egg - egg drop soup style.
That sounds great! There is only one store near here that has them but it is worth the trek!
I like the beef flavor and make according to package instructions. I always ate it with a peanut butter sandwich (because it's all I could afford). Now whenever I eat one, I crave the other.
I am a ramen purist. Boil exactly two cups of water, add noodles, cook for 3 minutes exactly, turn off heat, add seasoning. Eat. That is all. Do not microwave, do not drain water, do not cut down on seasoning. Anything else is tragic.
If I want fancy ramen with vegetables and shit I will go to a restaurant. At home I just want a quick, easy, comforting meal. It involves nothing outside of water, heat, noodles, and the flavor packet.
So much this. You're not getting good ramen out of a packet. May as well go out if you want the real deal. This place near us has the best kimchi ramen. That stuff is incredible.
My fave is creamy chicken, drain all but 1/4 cup of water, add the whole seasoning packet and one ice cube, stir until ice melts, slurp. Yum.

What store? I totally want to try that recipe. Yum!!
Japan Sage Market which is my new favorite Asian market even if it is focused just on Japan because the people working there are so helpful. This kind of ramen is in the back frozen section.
And I did have this ramen for dinner tonight and it was awesome again
I feel like we've talked about the Kraft cheese thing before. It's a legit thing in Korea, right?
Yes! This is fairly common in Korea and I heard they do this in Japan, too. It took me a long time to try it, but I'm glad that I finally did. I know it sounds completely weird, but the cheese adds so much yummy flavor. Some brands even come with a cheese flavor packet.
Interesting, never tried putting a slice of cheese in ramen, but I can see how it would be good. I know it's common to put it in "budae jjigae" (army stew), which is a spicy stew with a hodge podge of ingredients, including ramen noodles and spam.

Haha, yes! My dad used to make this for us sometimes and would tell us about his time in the army. Mostly stories of being drunk and doing stupid stuff. LOL. He wouldn't put cheese into his stew, though, but it was still good.
BTW, are you Korean?
Yes, Korean! And my dad used to make us budae jjigae too, it was always so much better than the jjigaes my mom would make, lol.
Am I right to assume you're (at least half) Korean?
