My sister is allegedly divorcing and moving back to the US when her school year ends in April. I really hope this happens because I want her to be happy and I no longer think it is possible under her circumstances in Japan.
You mentioned your sister in a thread last week, and I wondered how she was. It's too had that her marriage will end, but this has been brewing for a while, right? Will she relocate closer to you?
My h has been planning a hypothetical I second trip to Europe for like a ear. He sent me the spreadsheet this weekend, and asked me to look it over. I know his activity is relaxin for him, but it makes me crazy. We could afford to spend $6k on a Europe trip in the short term. In the long term, however, we really can't. We need to use that money to pay of my student loans so we can cash flow each month once we have a second kid. But he refuses to look at our long range budget and tell me how we can do both. It's really frustrating.

When I was posting on Facebook I saw that a professor that was pretty important to my college experience died. She had Alzheimers, and planned to end her own life before she required assisted living. It sounds like an amazing end for a groundbreaking woman, but I can't imagine the sadness and strength required of her whole family at this time.
I have Daniel Tiger songs stuck in my head. You know you are a mom when Daniel Tiger is in your head. This is really the first time I have has a "know you are a mom. . . ." moment.
"You gotta try new foods 'cause it might taste goooo-ood!"
The problem with Daniel Tiger songs is that my husband likes to throw them in my face now when I'm being a surly asshole.
Like this weekend, with painting, he was all, "come help me while C naps" and I'm like "meh" and he's like "WHEN YOU CAN'T DO THINGS ALONE, WORK TOGETHER."

She will hopefully relocate either here or Chicago to be near family initially but California may be in the longer term due to jobs for Japanese speakers. Still way closer! Yes, she first said she was getting divorced over a year ago but has been living separately from her husband six months now and he is relocating hours away to be by his family without her so I am inclined to believe it will really happen this time. Once they are divorced she only has a few months to leave the country. I think she was just staying married for Japanese "green card" purposes.
I was just thinking about your BIL the other day. I'm so sorry this happened to them, but I hope your sister gets a great new start back at home.

I just sang that.
Mine is "choose one more thing to do ..." To Daniel Tiger's credit, I can now sing that at the park to get DD to get ready to leave.
We live adjacent to an elementary school and I'm enjoying listening to the kids play at recess on the first day of school. It's nice to have their little, joyful voices back after a quiet summer!

While we were away this weekend, my dad was here tearing shit up, which resulted in an insanely dusty house Everything is just a total mess. Fortunately, my mom just called and told me her cleaning lady and her niece will be here tomorrow to clean - it's their anniversary present to us Good timing too since my MIL comes Thursday.

I was thinking this last week. We're down the block from the elementary school and it just makes the neighborhood feel more vibrant when they're in session.
I swear I am a shopping masochist- I went to ouac to see if they had winter jackets yet. No jackets, but they had some really cute mini boden and HA for pretty cheap. Those brands must not be popular in my area bc stuff from gap and gymboree is much more expensive.
Only day 2 of the freeze and I'm already struggling- I stayed strong though!
I took the baby with me to my dental appointment: xrays & cleaning. I had tried to reschedule but they wanted my $85 more than any inconvenience from a newborn; the office manager told me to bring her. The hygienist had to readjust the pacifier a couple times but otherwise it was fine.
Today has sucked. I swear people suddenly have amnesia regarding everything that was discussed for the last 11 months. Ugh I hate the end of the fiscal year.
AND it was supposed to be a 3 day week, but now I'm working Friday for a few hours to try and get some shit accomplished.
Plus I just logged into our CC, holyfuckingshitballs, what did we buy? Thank god for the September freeze.

Today is my DDs first full day of kinder ( last week they only went half days) and it feels so weird without her here. This will also be the first full day bus back and forth. I'm so happy for her because she is over the moon excited... But, it's... Weird.
My kids were with their grandparents for 3 1/2 days so they are being little assholes today. Hitting each other, throwing toys, fighting naps. Awesome.
I'm still in yoga pants and haven't even put in my contacts.
I have a twy sentwa question. Is it normal for young kids to mistake letters for ones that look similar? (Like P and B, R and K, M and W.) C is pretty good at identifying letters of the alphabet but always transposes a few.
Totally normal. My younger DD just started 2nd grade and by now reads the letters correctly all the time but still occasionally writes "b" instead of "d" or vice versa. The teachers say even at her age that is not at all uncommon.
My kids started school today. Somebody'll be sick within a week, I guarantee it. Darn place is a petri dish. Plus now I have to start being diligent about lice prevention, so we're back to daily spray repellent and pony tails.

I'm doing a no junk food challenge. I'm one day in and all I want is a giant cupcake and a huge chocolate bar. I believe in "everything in moderation" but I am not moderating well so I need to reset myself.
Thanks Ashley&Scott and tulips! I hope it goes well. Although I did have the same thought as tulips...it's daycare that needs to deal with it! Did your kids seem affected by the transition? Extra tired, cranky, etc?

Transitions make M emotional & separation anxiety sets in, sometimes he's cranky too. But that doesn't have anything to do with the cot. More because he doesn't like change so getting used a new room & new teachers takes a few weeks.
I was at the grocery store this weekend wearing a Gator shirt. The guy bagging my groceries says to me "Oh, are you having a baby Gator?" Me: "No." Bagger: "Oh, is your husband a Seminole or something?" Me: "No, he's a Gator too. We're not having a baby" Bagger: "Ohhhh... no I wasn't asking if you were having a baby!"
WTF dude. really, what else were you asking me then? do tell.
How I wish I had responded: "Well, I did have unprotected sex today, so you never know!"

Mine is more of a confession. I don't belong to a gym. I've recently started sprinting up the stairs at work just to sneak in some exercise. It's 3 flights, enough to get my heart racing but not enough to break a sweat.
My random is that I'm due in 7 weeks. We have her crib, dresser, and curtains but have done nothing to get her room ready. It's an effing disaster in there right now and we still need to do a purge and take stuff to storage. With X, I was so "everything has to be perfectly ready by the time I'm 36 weeks" and there is no way that can happen this time with our travel schedules. I guess I have found what I'm #breezy about the second time around. LOL
I'm due with number two in eight weeks and we've done nothing. We have company the next two weekends, then focusing on getting ready for the baby. We don't even have the bassinet assembled yet.?

Speaking of Daniel Tiger, I was watching it with the kids over the weekend and Baby Margaret was crying and crying and crying. It wasn't until DH brought me a very hungry DS2 that I realized it wasn't Baby Margaret.
I don't pretend to be breezy, but I realized I am really not breezy when it comes to Lunchables. What kind of crap is that? DD is pissed at me because I won't buy these and send these to school with her every day. I blame MIL for packing them for camp while DD was staying with her this summer.

I don't want to go into too many details but I'm sitting here at work livid. My boss, as I suspected would happen, is stating lies and exaggerations in order to exert her power over me. She said that I "missed half the school year" due to my maternity leave when I left in mid-April. Our program ends in May. She is using that lie to potentially make changes to the case load of schools that I serve, saying other people filled in for me so that has to be taken into account when assigning staff. One f/t staff member filled in for me at ONE of my 11 school sites for 3 meetings.
This is complete bullshit and I'm fuming. I should have spoken up and said something immediately but I didn't. A mistake I won't make if she makes that "half a year" statement again.

Lunchables are disgusting. We were at the zoo with someone this summer and she offered DD part of their lunchable. Weird lunch "meat" and american cheese. Ick.
And to further put this into context, we had Jack's frozen pizza for lunch. Not winning any nutritional superstar awards over here!
