I'll only be watching because my parents will be here and they want to watch (or, really, my mom wants to watch and my dad will listen while he reads something).
I will be watching be watching FOR SURE but I'm also hosting a viewing party so it would be rude to post on the boards during the party.
Marie, what recipe did you decide to make for the party?
I drew South Korea (we had a nerdy random drawing) so I'm making a Korean cucumber salad because it looked like the recipe that give me the lowest chances of fucking it up. Other countries in the drawing that guests are making dishes for are Austria, Ethiopia, Colombia, Fiji, Lebanon and of course the UK. Also, we are ordering pizza so Italy will be represented. And Yuengling is in the kegorator, so that covers America.
See... The listing I'm seeing is saying it won't broadcast here until 7 pm.
Mumblegrumblewestcoast.
..via mobile.
Yup. The way NBC holds Olympic broadcasts on the west coast irks me greatly.
I realized the other day this is my first summer olympics with a smart phone. My spoilerphobia will be challenged.
I just downloaded the olympics extra app... Apparently, you can use it to watch EVERY SINGLE EVENT, live, from multiple camera angles, from your phone.
So so so so into the thought of being able to watch non-marquee sports at will.
Also, I'm so exited to share the olympics with my kid... I was telling her about it, and she started saying that she could run faster than they could, and swim faster, jump higher, do better gymnastics and play soccer better. But not basketball. They'd best her at basketball.

Oh I remember you telling us that. I ended up spending a good hour looking at korean recipes and making myself very hungry. You'll have to report back with what everybody else made.

Damn both of you, now I want bibimbop. No idea if/ where there is some near me.
I know exactly where there is some near me. But i'm supposed to be not spending money on lunch. :-(

I downloaded it too, it sounds cool but we'll see. I'm not going to wake up at 2am to watch women's shot put. MrP likes more sports that are minimally broadcast, but it's difficult for him to watch in the middle of the day.
I usually swear off nbcolympics.com when the games start. I wish they would give vague headlines and require click through for spoilers. I'm going to be careful with the app and see how it goes. I'm not one of those people who enjoys watching just as much when I know the result. It's the suspense that makes it fun.

:::tip toes out of lurkdom::: I'll be watching! I can't wait!
I got Columbia and managed to screw up both my flan and my coffee granita, if I can't get it right on my second attempt I'll have to pick something up from the local Columbian restaurant.
