Wash your hands all the damn time (as soon as you get home from work, the store, church, etc.), eat healthy, keep up with your vaccinations, and avoid people who are sick (as much as you can).
a BIG YES!! I get it every year. DH didn't last year and he was down and out of work for over a week, THEN he coughed so hard he threw out his back and was out of work another week immediately following. You can be sure he is getting the shot this year!!
I get the flu once a year... after Christmas...after seeing H's extended family.
Can I disinfect them?
Yes. Fill the bathtub with purell and dunk them in it. Remember, it takes 30 seconds to be effective, so hopefully they can hold their breath. Then make them wear those paper mask thingys or just have them drink some 151. There's enough alcohol in that to disinfect their fluids.

But back to the original topic... DS gets the nasal mist every year. I get the normal flu shot. I haz asthma (and a cold or flu turns into bronchitis rather quickly), so my doctor gets all medical-dude on me if I decline. My insurance covers the shot in full and my employer offers them for free as well, usually not until November though.
