1. Why does the car seat make babylefty spit up so dang much? I have to clean that thing almost every time he's in it and I have a high tolerance for spit up.
2. How do you know how much milk to send to daycare, I have a month before I need to know this but I'm curious.
3. This is mostly for jennlin, how do you get into donating milk? How much do you need to be able to donate?
1) georgeharrison had a happy spitter. does he have any form in reflux? maybe the angle of the seat? or he could be getting car sick..my friends son has a vertigo issue or something, and it's because he has a LOT of ear wax..like..srs ear wax. and if it's not cleaned, he gets sick.
2) the general rule is 24oz a day, divided by how many feedings a day..then calculate how many feedings he may need while gone. and then send extra. i think.
3) i'm way too lazy to do it officially. there are milk banks, and i think the lowest amount is 200oz to donate. you need your doctor to sign off, and your pedi to sign off. your hospital should have more information. i donate peer to peer, which is basically just donating as if we are friends. we connected through a local fb moms group (your area should have one, too). in most cases, the recipient provides milk bags.
1. I was going to suggest its the angle of the seat as well. Do you guys have a convertible seat yet? I know it's not as convenient when little but may be worth a try to see if it puts him at a slightly better angle?

I wouldn't say Tman was a "happy spitter." I mean, I know that's what they call them when it doesn't hurt, but nothing was happy about how much barfing Tman did when he was a baby. The thing about reflux meds if H is on them is that they don't prevent the reflux, they just take the acid out of it (from my understanding) so it doesn't hurt. My advice is put a big bib on him when he's in the car. Unless he seems to be sufferring from it. It took a long time for Tman to care that he was barfing.

2. No real clue.
My parents are getting a convertible for him for xmas...I might ask for it sooner.
He's on meds so it doesn't bother him anymore (and actually did help the projectile vomiting a little!) It's just so gross. I think I might start putting a burp rag under him and pinning one around the straps. He is never without a bib. Poor spitter upper.
1. G was a happy spitter at home (not so much in the car though) and we used prefolds as burp cloths/bibs (corner tucked into her shirt) since those cute ones just wouldn't cut it. At least maybe they could soak up most of it?
2. G reverse cycled so needed less than I think is typical (I sent 4 bottles, 2.5-3oz each). On a daily basis she got refrigerated milk pumped a few days prior but I sent 1 bag of frozen milk for them to have on hand just in case.
ETA - we figured it out through trial and error. At first I sent one more bottle than I thought they'd need. Once I had a good idea of it, I wouldn't send extra (other than the backup frozen milk) bc I really didn't want them to waste any.
1. The angle & pressure from the carseat causing spitting up, especially in babies probe to it. I tried to never out E in a carseat right after eating b/c it was guaranteed he'd spit up. So, feed at least 30 min b/f car seat, burp, & keep upright as long as possible.
2. I don't know when you BF, but I knew how much he typically ate and I always brought one more bottle than I thought he needed & then adjusted over time.
ETA: E always wore a bib from 1-6 months. The Grenn Sprouts bibs worked best, only ones that didn't soak through to his clothes. Do NOT miss those days!
What about one of those bibs that has the little pouch to catch food for when he's in the seat? Kind of gross to have it pooled there but depending how he spits up might help with catching it all?
