I did just a quick look, and didn't see a topic. I just got my hair cut into a short bob. I really like it, but I'd like to find some product to help the look. I'd like some texture and weight without feeling greasy. Any suggestions? I'd like to not spend a fortune, but I'd be willing to splurge on one good hair product (probably couldn't swing a whole high-end hair care "system").
I'm trying to grow my hair out now, which I typically do once a year, then get sick of it and cut it off to my standard cut - which is an inverted bob where it's shorter in back and longer in front. If your hair is anything like mine (fine with a tendency to just lay flat), there are two products that you really need - some type of foaming product that gives a little bit of hold to put on the roots at the crown of your head for some lift, and some type of pomade product to give your hair a little bit of separation.
Honestly, I've tried a zillion products, and really think that drugstore hair styling products generally work as well as the professional products, but here is what I had been using before growing out my hair (and will finish up these bottles when I get sick of my hair and chop it off).

I really like Sebastian Whipped Cream mousse and their Potion #9 light. I also like either Redkin Guts or Aquage uplifting foam for more volume and lift. I spray the potion in my hair and let it air dry usually when I shower at night. In the AM, I will sometimes dampen, add the mousse or volumizer and blow-dry with a round brush. For me, shampoo and conditioner don't really make a huge difference. I prefer low-sulfate/sulfate free because it helps my color. I'm back to the Loreal Everpure Volume because it's not expensive and it works as well as Purology did for me.
The best tip I have found is get a good flat iron. I recently bought a CHI 1" and I LOVE it for adding a nice bend and shine to my hair very quickly without sweating a ton in the summer from blow-drying.
