This is not a post I want to win with the smallest house
Where are the other ppl that live in a box?
Lol, we live in 851 square feet with a little boy and two dogs. Two bedrooms one bath. We have an unfinished basement that we can use as a flex space if need be. Some day we'll probably add a bathroom down there. I love my big yard and get itchy thinking about the upkeep on something bigger. We don't intend to have another child though.

2200 sq ft, 5 br (twin masters; we use the downstairs one as a playroom), 3.5 ba. 2 kids.
We are renting, so yes, we will be moving and purchasing a bigger home in the next 1-2 years once H's job situation is more clear. I'd like to purchase a 4-5 br home that's around 3,000 sq ft, as we are planning on having at least one more kid.

Just under 1700 sq ft; 4 bedroom 2 bath. We could fit a third kid in here assuming we put DS1 and DS2 in the same room in a couple years, since I'd like to keep a guest room/office if possible.
zarapipe I have a small house! Just moved into a 1450sq FT single-level ranch home, 3BR 2BA. No basement. This is our forever home. We have 2 kids, a dog and a cat. It's on 2 acres, we'll have meat rabbits, meat chickens, laying hens, and maybe goats eventually.
I would like a slightly smaller house, actually. I can't seem to keep this one clean. Our house in Texas was about 1900 sq ft and 4br and I had no problem maintaining it.
2800ish including the finished attic but not including the finished basement. 4 beds, 2.5 bath.
We have 2 kids and have plenty of space for one more but would sacrifice the guest room or make the girls share a room if we have another. We do have a sunroom on the second floor that could be used as another room if necessary. We do have a long term plan of turning the attic bedroom into a master suite and adding a bath up there.

We're in a 1000 square foot apartment with 2 bedrooms. We're really trying to save for a down payment and hope to be able to buy something in the 3 bedroom, 1800-2000 square foot range. Of course, that'll all depend on what we can save between now and then...

lol less than 800 sqft (i honestly do not know exactly the size). the size is fine, but the layout sucks. i would live in 800-1000 sqft happily with a good layout.
we have 2 bed, 1 bath.
1 child with no plans for more.
we don't technically need more space. i would love another room though, or just a more open layout. it will happen, but not for a year most likely. L definitely gets stir crazy and annoyed because there isn't much space for her to go.

When it's all finished, 3500 sq ft. 4 beds/4.5 baths in the main house, 1 bed/1 bath guest house. We have a media room, playroom and family room. We are planning on 2 kids. If we have a third, there may be some sharing but the house is plenty big.

1524. 2bed/2bath. 2 kids, 2 cats, and soon to be a dog. We're never moving. I love our house. We just bought the kids bunk beds. They'll be fine in one room until 18 right?
We have 3BR/2BA in 1,500 square feet. We are renting this house and came from a 3BR/2.5BA plus loft in 1,900 square feet (we still own that one and rent it out). Sometimes I am tempted to move back and deal with the long commute because I thought that house was a perfect one for our family. I feel like we need one more room in this house--I'd like a basement or den or something where the toys would be out of the main living area and I could store my many bookcases (I love to read). Right now the bedrooms are H's office plus the dog crates, the future nursery and our master bedroom.
We have one kid on the way and are considering one more.
We just sold our starter home in August which was 1200 sq. feet with no basement... and bought a house that is 3300 sq. feet.... 4300 if you add in the finished basement. We have one child who is 6 and no plans for more. Definitely bigger then we need but DH really wanted a 3 car garage... cars are his passion. And I wanted the backyard. The house has an awesome lot location. Definitely bigger then we "need" but I don't think it is too big. The layout is great and so far keeping it clean hasn't been too much of a PITA. We have family come stay with us often so the extra space will be nice. As long as you can afford it I say buy what you want. I know you probably shouldn't be emotional about house buying but I definitely had the "this is the one" feeling when we saw it. We plan on being here for many years so I wanted to buy what we would be happy with.

1600sqft including the basement utility room. It's 4 bedroom 2 bath. We have 2 kids. Dh and I share one bedroom as a home office (it has to be a dedicated room for my business) and the 2 smallest rooms are for the kids. They're too small to share so we'd have to move if we had a third.
We just moved from someplace that was 3 BD, 2.5 BA in 1800 square feet to a new home with 4300 square feet and 6 beds, 5 full BA, 2 1/2 BA. The new house is FAR too large for us with one kid. We got a screaming deal from buying a foreclosure, but we kind of accidentally bought it too, so there is that.
Our old house was fine when it was the three of us (we are OAD), but my parents come to stay 1 week per month and it was crowded with 4 adults and one child and a nanny in the home.
We are not currently using one bed and one bath at all (in basement). We plan to make it into a guest suite for my parents in the future. It is very nice to have our room separated from Caramini's and for her to have a playroom.
We also had to buy a Neat-o to robot vacuum. We are so FWP-y.
How big is your house (# of rooms and square footage)? 1100…plus a finished basement, so 2000. 3 bedrooms, but the kids' rooms are tiny, the 3rd has no closet because the previous owners got rid of it when they re-did the bathroom. It also has a screen door with the only exit to the rear of the house. We also have only 1.5 bathrooms. Unfortunately, the difference between our house and a 4 bedroom will be about 200k more. It just isn't worth it in our opinion…I am not willing to spend 600k to get 4 bedrooms and a lot that isn't as nice (we have a nice lot).
How many kids do you have? soon to be 2.
Will you need to move to be comfortable if you have more kids? We will be tight with 2. I don't think we could do it with 3, it would just be too tight.
*brought to you by a client asking me if we wanted to buy their home but I think it might be too big for us*
1000 sq ft + finished basement (those don't count in listings here, but it's another ~950 sq ft). 3 bedrooms up, plus a not-legal bedroom in the basement.
We don't ever plan to move. We could have 1-2 more kids and stay here. We don't plan to, but we could. I have zero desire for more space. I can't keep this clean.
2000 ft plus 800 ft of finished basement. 3 bedrooms upstairs, plus an office, and a bedroom in the basement. 3 1/2 baths. Plenty of space, and then some, for our family of 4 and the occasional overnight visitors
3800 sq ft. That's 3 bedrooms + bonus room up stairs, 4.5 baths. Half of our full basement is finished. We have 1 child, 1 dog, and a cat. I admit this much space may not be necessary with an only child but I love it.
