My instructor for this course is a complete moron. He didn't post the content of the class to the website until two days after the class started and I sent him an email asking about it. Then he posts a chat about how we didn't learn how to navigate the course but the course material just wasn't there. Then the due dates were totally off with assignments being due 12/10 but the tests due 11/4 making this 6 week class a 2 week class. The order of assignments is all screwy on the website and it is not intuitive at all. There are no navigation instructions from him or even a list of assignments, just instructions to go to the website and start working.
After I emailed him three times in the last two weeks asking for clarification, he sends out this email...
it has been brought to my attention that no one understand the lessons are the order of the material. So let me clarify. If so of you have already received this email about this I apologize. So the lessons are called SIMPATHs and the order of the material is as follows:
I'm guessing I haven't been the only one that has asked the same questions.
OMG. I need to finish this class ASAP so I can be done with this joker.
I'm actually half way done with the class already. I mean, I tested straight through the windows 7 exam and also the word and excel exams. It is a joke class designed to get the school more money.
I had a professor like this in library school. He was an adjunct teaching an online class - that happened to be a requirement and was full of second-semester students - and 4 weeks in we still had no syllabus. He kept making references to assignments we knew nothing about. Enough people complained to the dean that he was replaced mid-semester.
I think he is because I can't find any reviews on him anywhere. It isn't difficult, it is word, excel, Windows 7, etc so it is just a time suck for me, but I can see how someone who isn't familiar with the programs could be even more confused.
Yup, Student Services/Student Affairs cannot do anything.
Go to the department head first. They are really the only one that can ACTUALLY do something.
Sorry its such a crap class!
Ditto this. Go to the department chair. Everyone else (ombudsman, dean, student services) will direct you to the chair. I am a department chair and this sort of feedback is very valuable. We can't be watching every classroom.
