Self employed. Pre Obamacare, mine was around 550/month. Now it is 295/month! DH is also self employed. His is around 150/month, but he has a higher deductible.
Do you mind sharing what kind of policy you have? Sorry to be nosy but DH is self employed and my employer doesn't offer health insurance because it's a small company. We have been paying $350 a month through Anthem for the both of us. It was a pretty good plan. Now the plan is ending October 31st and our new plan will be $732 a month with far higher deductibles and a way, way smaller network. It's also converting from a PPO to an HMO. I'm really trying to find something better, cheaper, anything. I'm in Virginia and I know the costs and plans vary by state.
I have a BCBS of Illinois plan. $1000 deductible and $1500 out of pocket max. PPO, but the provider group is on the small side. I could have paid more to get a larger network of doctors, but it wasn't that big of a deal to me. I think it was closer to $400/month for the larger provider network. I found it through a combination of using the heathcare.gov site and looking on the BCBS site directly. Also, I am 43, so not that young.
DH has a high deductible plan through Humana. I was wrong. His is $175/month. We found his plan before Obamacare was in place using ehealthinsurance.com. It pretty much already met all the Obamacare requirements so not much changed with Obamacare. DH is 42.
