So I yelled at the radio this morning when the weatherman suggested that, "Sunday's weather looks perfect for the marathon."
Maybe perfect for spectating.
They kept saying that at Boston last year. Sure, if you don't start at 11am and train through the winter. It was the perfect day for spectating. I'll take Sundays, and pretend the breeze will always be at my back. It will be cooler than 90% of my long runs this cycle.
With the wind, the forecast is pretty much identical to Chicago. It didn't kill me. I never felt overheated, or defeated by the wind, just at times missing my visor to block all that gorgeous sunshine.
If you'd like examples of bullshit race weather: The half that I ran in which it rained over 4 inches in 2 hours. The half that I ran in which it SLEETED on me the entire fucking time. The Tough Mudder in MD that I did under a tornado warning. RnR Virginia Beach, where it was 85 degrees an hour before the sun came up, with a heat index pushing 100 during the actual race.
This. Eez nothing.
Ain't nobody trying to hear this right now. We've fully succumb to taper madness and have descended the rabbit hole of crazy.

Yeah, this is why I sit on the beach with a fruity drink while Mr. GT runs RnR Va Beach

Serios.
Remember when the real feel temps were in the 80s/90s for our long runs this summer? Hahahaha Eff you Mother Nature.
This is the ONLY bright spot of summer marathon training. Bring it, mother nature. It can't be worse than 18+ milers in August and September. Your bodies are trained for MUCH worse.

I'm so going to be that girl where everyone (not so) secretly plots her death at brunch tomorrow when I'm all breezy and "yay marathon"
I'll be right there with you. All breezy and, "what marathon? yay walking the 10k..." Though trust me I'm excited and anxious and nervous for other reasons.
DH got my bib and shirt. 5 min wait! Beats my 2 HOURS from last year just for the bib. I didn't wait for the shirt last year.
What??? That is insane, we didn't have a line at all. The only slight problem was someone didn't have her e card printed and I had to use her friend's phone to pull up the number cause her phone didn't work at the Armory.
I think I got to the pentagon station around 6:15ish last year. It was still dark for about a half hour. I wish I remembered b/c I feel like I timed it well.
My plan is to get to Rosslyn around 6:30 and use the porta potties on the way. I've been told that these lines are much shorter than the lines closer to the start. If this is a crazy plan someone let me know.
Just have to say how excited I am for you ladies and this race. It's on my race bucket list so I'm looking forward to following your progress while you all kick serious ass out there!

I think that's a reasonable plan. A bunch of people from my running club are meeting in Rosslyn and then walking over around 7. But they're not checking bags.

It's over a mile from the start line, idk if that is crazy or not
Yeah, that is my only fear, but I need to do some type of warm up to make the bathroom stop worthwhile and I think the walk would be sufficient:P I might have Mr. Gt drop me off a little closer to the start line, but far enough away that I can use those bathrooms.
It looks like I am going to be driving myself to the race or getting a ride to the metro from my mom. Usually I have DH there so I bring nothing but my gu, and he carries everything else. What should I have on me? Gu, Smart trip card, Key if I drive (duh)
Should I bring money? Can I keep it dry? A credit card? My phone? I really don't want to carry my phone, but should I?
Help me think this through. Please and thank you. I'm nervous, but I just won't run so hard I can't get myself home. That works, right?
I'd probably go Gu, smart trip/key/ID/credit card. I don't usually bring my phone to long races, cause it is too big. However, I was thinking about bringing my crappy work bb to this race cause it is actually much smaller than my iPhone.

I'm taking ID. Credit card, smart trip card. And Gu. I'm checking a bag with warm clothes and my phone. Their bag pick up is very efficient. It's never taken me more than 5 minutes.
Holy shit. We just drove by the armory and the line is now down independence. So like 2.5 city blocks long for those not familiar with the area. Very happy I picked up my bib yesterday...

So it took me 40 min from when I got in line to passing security. You know what's not allowed inside? Food and water. You know what counts as food, ebeth and gt7301b?
The look on the security lady's face when se saw the cupcake box was priceless.
I did make a new friend in line with a lovely woman from Dallas as she and I stuffed our faces with beautiful chocolate cupcakes! Sorry, DH!
