I *might* have been an officer in my school's Junior Classical League (aka Latin club).
I freaking loved JCL.
We did classics in translation after our first half year of latin, and our teacher was kind of nutso, so we did all kinds of cool stuff. A unit on Medieval Latin (including translating a first hand account of the assassination of St. Thomas a Becket. Catullus (which was purely awesome teenage angsty stuff). A unit on plays. A unit on oratory.
I wanted to do more Latin in college, but we had already done everything their Classics department offered (granted, I went to a little college) unless I wanted to do independent study... which, in retrospect, I should have done, instead of taking a year of Italian.
On one occasion, while taking a test, I mistakenly declined all the nouns, because Italian and Latin were so close to each other, and old habits die hard. Luckily, my prof thought it was funny.

Why do older people wear high waters so much? Aren't their ankles cold? I'm award it could be a money issue, it I have seen an untold number of women with cery high pants on the last couple of days.

I saw the dumbest thing I've ever seen today, lol. A friend had some blog piece about cursive writing on her FB, should it or shouldn't it be taught at school. Her friend replied:
Personally I'm for cursive writing. I think it's beautiful. When I found out it wasn't being taught in schools any more, it made me really glad that I'd pulled my boys out in favor of home schooling.
A few days ago in a meeting for work, I brought up some of the things that have been frustrating about the way management has been doing things. We are all overworked and stressed out and frankly, not being compensated enough for it. I didn't get into too much detail because it was over speaker phone and something I would rather discuss in person.
Today a co-worker of mine IM'd me to say thanks for speaking up. We discussed some things. Now I'm worried that maybe management monitors our IM'ing and I'm going to get in trouble. It wasn't anything too bad. Just frustration at workload expectation and how they won't give us raises. Everything I'm planning to bring up in review anyway. Now I'm going to worry about it though.

I misread at first and was like, "WHAT voodoo?! You're whole reason to homeschool is cursive f-ing writing that you simulate easily by printing in a font on a computer?!"
Now, I'm just wondering if you'll respond and let that friend of a friend know that "you can always teach cursive writing after 3pm, if it's important."
My boss has been out of the office since Wednesday, he won't be back till Tuesday and we've got 4 active projects that are being managed out of OTHER offices and we're just an add-on to their contracts. I'm sure you can imagine how smoothly this is all going.
So...Carl bought me three new pairs of heels, which I love. And I have two patent pairs. I need to replace my nude patent pumps. This is more shoes than I have ever owned (and doesn't count boots, peep toes, sandals, etc).
