You can make Nigerian chin chin really easily. It's cheap too.
Do you like egusi soup? I can handle egusi soup, but once I had egusi pudding and I thought I was going to vomit lol. I think that's one of the only foods from the region that I just can't handle.

I've never had it. FI (and his family) hardly ever cook for me because I can't eat spicy foods. Even when they think it isn't spicy, I'm sweating and pretending it's fine.
I almost dread the day I go to visit Lagos. What will I eat!? lol.
I don't think I've ever had a salad while in Asia. Maybe once in a European restaurant. I'm not sure what an Asian salad even means.
Think Wendy's.
I actually have had Asian salads at Japanese restaurants, but I doubt this will be that nice.
Is it possible to do a salad of chopped veggies (and dressing) instead of an American-style salad? Like sliced cucumbers, pea pods, carrots, or broccoli heads...? If you used 3 or 4 veggies and separated them from each other in one dish, that would look more Asian. Maybe you already are doing that... It's not a big deal or anything. Just trying to help make it more authentic.
I feel like I had salad in China made of unidentifiable vegetables and named something like "Extra Vegetable Afternoon Combination."
Kim chee is the Koran version of a salad
And of course there's seaweed salad in Japan. Yum!
Green papaya salad in Thailand.
Endless possibilities, but none of them look like an Asian chicken salad from Wendy's.
oh I agree that would be a salad. Or side dish. I was trying to think of what I've had with lettuce or cabbage. Ummm pickled...fish sauce...red pepper...unidentified...
origami I didn't even notice that you'd mentioned Wendy's. I want picking on you, I promise.
I think asdfjkl can get away with anything as long as it's topped with a sesame dressing
I'm the original mentioner of Wendy's. I'm not really sure what it will look like. I'm just guessing it's going to be pretty generic. Maybe she'll do a Thai salad with a peanut lime dressing. There was a restaurant next to my old office that had a Thai salad and it was effing incredible. It had tofu and... I can't remember. But the dressing, oh the dressing.
One of our caterers at work does Thai noodle salad. It's basically just veggie pad Thai but cold and with more peanuts. Delicious!

You sound like my MIL.
Every time I make Jollof rice she says it's too spicy for her. I'll give it another go this week, and hope she can eat it.
