I sympathize. My store opens at 4 pm on Thanksgiving and I am LIVID. I've heard "well that's how retail works!" and "I'd quit if I were you" like it's an option to just leave your job. So unfair that the "Black Friday" sales keep getting earlier and earlier.

That's awful. I feel so bad for all the retail workers this time of year. Not only all the extended hours, but now they have to deal with this crap, too.
On the other hand, XFIL worked for the airlines and always signed up to work major holidays. The family shifted their holidays to accommodate, and Dad got paid almost an entire week's salary in a day or two.
This also made holidays easy on us when we were married, because his family always celebrated the day before/after. LOL
Well, in fairness, the big box companies didn't give a shit about their employees 15 years ago either. Labor just used to be stronger making working conditions better.

I also truly don't understand the person who will leave Thanksgiving dinner to get some of these deals. If you are not eating until you feel so full you can barely move, you're not even 'MERICAN!

This year I work (not in retail) Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. While I'm not thrilled about working every major holiday I am looking forward to the paycheck.
Black Friday used to be one of my favorite days. DH would take the day off of work and we would stand in line all night waiting to shop. I loved it! This whole starting at the ass crack of dawn on Thanksgiving is bullshit. It's taken all the fun out of it and I don't think we will be shopping on that day this year. I'll wait for all the cyber Monday sales.
