I don't feel like this board is too bad. Although dixeedeluxe I really needed you to stop misspelling mandatory yesterday! Ha ha. No offense, you usually come across so well spoken, it was driving me nuts.
Cut on THE bias or a bias cut skirt. ?
It's hilarious that you posted this because when I wrote it, I was like, is it on A bias or on THE bias or what?? And then I thought, well, probably no one really knows but Lola.....
This kind of thing makes me uncomfortable posting here. My English isn't the best because it's not my first language. I try my best. I type and retype posts so many times because I'm worried someone will "cringe" at my choice of words or grammer. Sorry folks, I'm not perfect.
Don't ask any of us to start speaking conversational French.
I was just going to say, it's voilĂ to be precise.

I bow down to anyone who is fluent in two or more languages. You are a rock star. My French is so terrible. I never got past giggling over the word for seal. My knowledge ends around "ooh et la discotech?" (yeah, there's my awesome pronunciation!)
Thank you, Quebec, for your awesomeness and proximity when I was 18

Before it comes up, I'll go ahead and apologize for my gigantic outdated siggy pic. It's so huge. But it's blocked at work and I'm only ever on a real computer at work. So it's just a red X. Then when I jump on a computer at home for a second, I see it and gasp but never fix it.

I hate that there is no little red line that shows up under misspelled words here!
Yes! I would love that! So many times I have to turn to google to figure out how to spell things. The red line under mispelled words here would make my life so much easier.

Oh, I know you would be! It just seemed like there was enough going on in that thread already, lol.
None of these bother me much but when people cannot correctly use AFFECT/EFFECT I want to throw down.
Dictionary.com yo!
I think I was absent the day they taught this. I'm pretty awesome at all the other commonly misused (not misspelled) words but this one I cannot get right. I have lots of infographs hanging in my cube to help me and I work on it constantly. But my brain won't absorb it.
I used to think when in doubt, it's "effect". That is false. "Affect" seems to be appropriate in most situations.

skiesthelimit I always forget that English isn't your first language as I think you express yourself really well. Also, with the amount of sleep you've been getting for the last few months, I am surprised you can make sense at all!
Lol! Thanks. I'm actually surprised myself! The other day I was filling out a form and I had to think twice about my name. Then I got to "age" and they totally lost me.

Your daughter E is pestering your daughter A to her last nerve. A is Affected by E, E has that Effect on her.

OMG this one gets me every time!! Ack! I never know which one to use. I think @beener posted something to explain it and I still don't get it. I try to avoid using it altogether (<- is that right?).
I had no idea about this. When is something an attachment, and when is it not? Is it an app thing?
Sometimes it will have a picture and say attachment above it- those are the ones that won't quote, and sometimes it will just be a picture (even though it is still an attachment)...I think that's through the app. I think those do quote. Then you have the ones that are uploaded through tinypic or whatever and those do quote.
Don't quote me on that, though
Interesting. I'm on a computer at the moment, but I'm on the app 99% of the time.

This is not helpful. I don't know why! When I have a specific sentence* that I'm trying to formulate, I can figure it out with my wall of infographs. But unless I have something very specific, my brain is blank.
*sentence is another word i often misspell. "sentance" is what my brain tells me to type.

What!? No! I've never once cringed at your posts. I never would have known English wasn't your first language!

French X goes to full time French daycare so we try to speak English at home so that he can be bilingual. He has a little French accent when he speaks English, I love it. He also says things "backwards" because he translates directly from French when he speaks English. Things like "This is a car yellow" instead of "this is a yellow car" because in French we say "c'est une voiture (car) jeune (yellow)".

Thanks. I guess I just get intimidated by all the smart ladies here and so many teachers! I type and retype posts trying to use proper grammer and phrases and it drives me crazy sometimes so I just don't post. Or I use google a lot. Sometimes I worry people will think I'm dumb.
I have so many typos on here because 1. I'm lazy to read over it again and I don't really care. 2. I'm on my phone 99% of the time and I suck at touch screens. 3. I'm normally doing something else at the same time and am not giving my full attention to what I type. Right now I'm also building a block tower.
Now what drives me nuts are business communications with obvious typos. That's unacceptable to me. Texting with friend or on here, I don't care.
The picture quoting PSA was helpful for me as this is something that I had not considered. I'll try to be more cognizant of it in the future. Also, I'll delete my quotes of your card, Trudy, though I think it would be great if that cuteness lasted forever.
