It'll never make a list like this, but we also think that the margarita pizza at Mama Flora's, which is in the strip mall with our joint favorite ShopRite, is perfection.
Haven't been there, the SR with the police substation?
I figure that has to be the explanation for Grimaldi's, and since Tacconelli's is pretty nationally famous, that might be it?
While I have you here, you may want to check out the latest issue of Travel & Leisure. Providence got all sorts of awards on the best cities list (including #1 best city)
LOL I know! They (local places) have been tweeting the SHIT out of that magazine for the past couple of weeks. I have all this local stuff I follow and everyone is promoting it.
Do you get the actual magazine? I get it (used some expiring FF miles for it - like 800 or something) and there was a cute blurb and a nice picture.
I'm convinced that Buddy Cianci is paying someone off over at T&L because we were noted so many times.
However I'm just now really reading through everything and I am amazed. Where are these magical bakeries that are driving us to #1? I want to go there. And while I love our brunch scene, do we really qualify as #3?! And #1 for diners makes no sense whatsoever.
But we got #2 for hip/cool and #1 for geeky which is kind of fun!!! and #3 for cocktail bars (we have great and CHEAP cocktail bars).
I am going ot have to try to find what establishments they are using to guide us on these things. Because #2 for pizza is questionable ( I think we discussed this last year!!).
Oh yes, I love reading T&L.
Not much love for NY this year
The issue did make me want to go to Providence... and Antarctica... and Woodstock, VT.

I love DeLorenzo's (both locations) and Nomad. One of my friend's parents hired Nomad when they were only the pizza truck for his PhD graduation and it was amazing then, too. I love their white pizza with the shitake mushrooms and fried eggs.

Tartufo!
OMG. I really do miss NJ. I've made that pizza at home before, but now I can't remember what kind of cheese goes on it. Do you know?
Thanks! No wonder I couldn't remember-- I loved the meat from Cherry Grove, but I never bought their cheese. I probably just used fresh mozzarella when I made it at home.

Did you live around here? Cherry Grove is 5 minutes from my house.
Don't you wonder how chain places like Dominos and Papa Johns exist in NJ when there are so many better options?
They're a different food group. Sometimes you want the real stuff, sometimes you want the junk food. Each is delicious and deserves its place in the pizza world.
Unless you're talking about PJ's fritos & chili pizza, which is the most vile thing I've heard of.

Yes, and I wonder the same thing about Subway.
Ugh, I can't do Domino's or Papa John's. It's not even a "matter of principle" thing, they just suck.
Occasionally Pizza Hut will hit the spot, but only if it's one of those personal pan pizzas.
I don't like Subway either. Blimpie, on the other hand ... the one where I grew up was good because they'd slice the meat fresh. I don't love the other locations, though, even the original one in Hoboken. And Quik Check sandwiches used to be a lot better before they (or the one in my neck of the woods, anyway) started using pre-sliced meat.
How is Jersey Mike's? They're building one near my house.

No. The only NJ hoagie worth eating is from wawa.
My south jersey is showing.
There's a Wawa in Kearny, which isn't too far from me. I have to try the Gobbler one of these days.
