At least 5. I pay DC2's daycare with a check every week, and DC1's preschool every month. If I add lunch money to DC1 or my lunch account, I write a check for that too.
One a month for rent. Although, I'm switching to PayPal or Venmo. My checks still have a Utah address from 8 years ago. Meaning, I haven't ordered new checks in 8 years. And I still have 1.5 boxes left.

A minimum of 5 - weekly for childcare and rent.
Depending on the month it could be a lot more. Anytime I have to send money to school I always send a check instead of cash because I've had money go missing. Most of DD's lessons need a check as well.
One a week to the nanny. One a month to children's day out. Two a year for school tuition. Six a year for sports registration fees. Five or six a year to my hair dresser. Probably another 10-12 a year for random things like reimbursing my mom for something she picks up for me, participating in a fundraiser, a home repair, etc.

2-one for my car and one for my mortgage. They are the only two bills I can't auto pay on my CC. I thought about online bill pay for them but I keep forgetting my password for my accounts and getting locked out. It seems safer to just mail it. Plus my car will be paid off by the end of the year!

I just had to write a check for our annual life insurance premium and I dug my checkbook out of a box from when we moved two years ago. So not that often.
Usually 3. One for the HELOC (don't judge) and 2 for preschool. Occasionally there's an additional 1 or 2 for preschool-related things, or a one-off payment of some sort.
Less than 5, for sure. One for rent (I could pay online, but they charge a $20 fee for that "convenience"), maybe 1 for a dr bill, and 1-2 more for school related stuff (t shirt order, book order form, etc) depending on the month.
ETA: I write one for my car payment because my bank is a small credit union, and the loan is at another small credit union. Neither of them are very high tech.
I also pay the registration on our cars with a check to avoid a fee.
At least 4, rent, water/sewer, natural gas, and lawn care. They only accept checks and money orders. We pay most other random service companies with checks too.
